He has a pretty good win rate through S6, just wasn't popular, in my opinion he is a sleeper OP champion.

He's not OP. Just a good pick against AP mid.

Galio is fun, people don't realize storm raiders fixed him into a monster.

The old yorick was not even close to a sleeper OP. He had no mobility or cc (unless you count his w and q that each had a tiny slow and a tiny movement speed boost). He only had good sustain and lane pressure. He even lost that lane dominance after hitting six. In teamfights, the ult was his only good thing. He couldn't initiate fights like maokai or nautilus. He couldn't jump in, do a ton of dmg, and come back out like riven, fiora, or irelia. He also had to build muramana because of his quick mana loss. Then he had to build tank because if he built ad, he would just get kited. As a tank, he stull got outclassed by other tanks who could just passively farm in lane and dominate team fights.

On the contrary, Galio's kit is far stronger depending on the comp. His passive is obviously very strong if the enemy has a lot of magic dmg. His q, e, and r don't have a great AP scale, but they can all do dmg to multiple enemies (coupled with the extra AP from the passive). W makes him extremely tanky even if he builds just Spirit visage, abyssal sceptor, and then all AP. His q and e also have a very long range. E also grants some moving speed for not just him but for his team. His w tanking covers up for his lack of utility. His ult is extremely powerful if the enemy team lacks enough tools to stop the channeling. Galio is certainly weak against all ad teams or champions that are very mobile. His passive is meant to counter AP comps, and it is difficult to hit the qs and es against mobile champs like yasuo, fiora, zed, and katarina. While his kit shines only in certain comps and situations, I would say he is far superior to the old Yorick. I still don't think Galio is OP, just quite good in certain situations.

Galio is super OP excuse you. The whole "his mana costs are insane" argument is really weak when you compare him to other Mages.

Yes the mana cost argument is somewhat invalid, but I don't think that is the issue. Galio's kit has a niche that is so unique and different from other champions that come mid. That's partially the reason I build a bit more tank and go top with him. Teams tend to prefer having straight up dmg champs in the mid lane like . And Galio certainly isn't better than any of these champions if he builds full AP.
