We should have the "Old League" game mode

League is a rather old game now, and I feel like a lot of the players would really like it if we have a game mode where we bring back certain old elements of the game. We could do this in a number of ways. I think it would be really cool to be able to play champions before their rework. This includes relatively new reworks like as well as older ones like . We could also bring back old items, spells, and even jungle monsters.

By no means am I saying that the old users are dissatisfied with the current state of the game or that the changes it went through were negative. The point is that old users miss the old game and would highly appreciate it if we could have access to some of it.

While I'd love to enjoy AP Yi and DFGaren one more time, it's unlikely that they'll actually create a legacy server. Now if you're talking a legacy rotating game mode, that actually sounds like a good idea. Give some of the newbies a chance to experience some of the older memes firsthand. They'd have to make some kind of a decision on when they go back to, but I'm sure they could pick one of a couple arbitrary points, assuming they've still got all the old code/stats/kits available.

Looking at what everybody has said so far, this does seem like the best and the easiest way. The question is whether the current client would be able to run the old versions of the game even with the codes/stats/kits.

Oh yes, I do see a lot of flaws in what Riot's been doing these days, but it's hard to deny that the game did improve.

Visually? Of course.

Gameplay-wise? ....ehhh, no I can deny that.

Edit: I didn't even include the whole DQ disaster, the failure of a mastery rework, item 3147 item 3078 changes, item 3156 changes, item 3075 changes, item 3152 , and item 3053 .

Edit 2: Upon looking back at the rework list, I noticed I had forgotten about Ahri which I didn't think was possible.

You're talking to the wrong person about improvements to the game. I'm a lot more bitter than most about it's state and direction.

Because the kit is unhealthy despite matching a theme. When I think of Graves, I definitely think "melee drain-tank..."

Becuase Graves is tanky, bursty , ranged , assasin, adc .

Well, Graves has always been bursty, just with his rework, he sacrificed dps for more burst, he's pretty much Lucian but with a lower range. Don't get me wrong, i feel like the graves rework was flawed, but not quite to the point where he's a problem.

I'll admit he can be pretty obnoxious, but I haven't seen him be too much of a bother recently.

The only nerf I can see him getting is reducing the armor and MR he gets with his E.

Disagree. It is too team work focused now. I much preferred it when I could sit in lane without concern for other lanes. Then team fight at the end and carry.

No, I just thought it would fun to have a game mode encompassing old elements of the game. I'm not saying change the game back to how it was before.

I do agree that some of the things I mentioned won't be easy to do. I still think we could bring back certain elements. For instance, we could have a game mode where all of the items are replaced by the items from the last season.

I also wonder how they'd handle other champs of that nature like Ryze.

Taric has only been reworked once. Ryze, i dunno, depends on the season. Same goes for good old soraka.

He was only reworked once, but I recall him receiving multiple ability changes before that. Having looked at the wiki now, I see that it was his ult that had multiple changes with us being on his 3rd ult now. That's ignoring the multiple changes his old W and E had too via passives and functionality quirks.

Taric has had one major rework (the most recent) but his passive has gone through 3 or 4 changes since season 2

Well, that's what would have to be decided. The point is to bring back the old stuff. For instance, we could roll back all the changes that took place in the champions for a year (while keeping the new champions). We could do the same for items. It would probably be chaotic to bring back everything, so we probably would have to focus on certain elements.

Old map, only the launch champs (make them all free, revert all reworks), bring back the old items, revert all patched numerical changes, etc. Let us take a trip down memory lane to when league was smaller, simpler.

This is really only feasible if they have the older patches stored somewhere, the old map resources, etc. But it would be really cool.

I totally agree. Moving back to a specific patch would be the most sensible way to carry out this game mode.

Season-specific queues for the maps, or just one, either way would be pretty cool. I think it'd have to be season specific though, it would just be the easiest frame of reference.

I do think that some of the reworks were rather successful. I still want to play them the way they were before sometimes.
