Can we talk about ults that give an indicator that shows they kill

So I've been watching some people play the new Evelynn on PBE and from the looks of things, she has an indicator pop up over people letting her know they will die from her ult. I think this is ridiculous, riot is taking the skill and the idea of learning a champion out of the scenario. I understand there is more to her than her ult, but if anyone can play her and not worry about learning the kill potential for her ult than it takes away an aspect of mastering her. Like Darius (I Know he is very annoying, but play along for the point of the argument) has an execute kill, but it won't tell you if it will kill. It's up to the players discretion whether or not they feel the ult does enough damage. And that goes for a lot of champs that have similar execute ults; Yasuo, Veigar, Jinx, Jhin, Lux etc. Obviously some of their ults aren't meant to only execute but they are most of the time used for the final blow.

And Evelynn isn't the first, Cho'Gath and Garen both have ults that execute with true damage, that tell the player when their ult will kill. Is it so hard for riot to make it so it takes some idea of the champ to get a feel for their damage and when is the right time to ult without giving the player a indicator? I know Garens is different. If I'm not mistaken he only gets the indicator on his villain, and obviously only true damage, but for two champs that are really quite easy to understand, give them something players have to work on.

I feel that for a game that is supposed to revolve around skill and the idea of "if you master your champ you will succeed" I don't understand them giving such powerful moves that are so easy to use, in regards to not only having a guarantee of when it will kill, but they are point and click moves. At least, you can flash the Evelynn ult, however, it can also kill multiple people. However, this is not a post on Evelynn balance issues. All I want to do is see if people think ults should give indicators to announce they will kill.

Garen's ult makes sense, considering his whole thing is bringing the person to justice.

Cho is kinda understandable, being a ravenous abyss beast who can probably smell/sense when someone is weak enough to be completely eaten. The glutton.

But I agree with you wholeheartedly that having an aoe execute tell you when it will kill someone is bonkers. It takes the guess work out of flashing while invis into baron pit and getting 3 kills and a free baron steal. BACK IN MY DAY YOU HAD TO FLASH THAT WALL AND ROLL THE DIE ON THE SMITE. [Xin Zhao shaking fist like old man.] (Or just slap the R button to knock them away lul.)

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Riot opening the game up to new players, but I'd like to think that the learning curve that league used to have back in Season 2-3 was good. Hard enough to be challenging, but friendly enough that you could play 3 or 4 champs pretty well and still climb. Now it's starting to feel like a 20 minute consolation prize simulator.

Usually game goes so fast you have no time to look at the indicator anyway.

Also, I think Eves indicator only shows if the target is low enough for the bonus damage

Everything I've seen, people were asking for an actual "this will kill" indicator because right now it just shows the bonus damage range?

Cho garen darius all have kill indicators so i'm fine with it.

Darius actually doesn't have an indicator for when his ult will kill. His indicator indicates which targets have the maximum stacks of his passive on them.

But doesn't that light up like garens when they are in execute range? I'm pretty sure it used to do that.

This was suggested by players as something they wanted and I can't blame them. It's frankly quite difficult to do the math in like a second to figure out if you'll kill the target or not and if you miss it feels 10x worse because you always hope back. Darius not having this kind of thing I get but Evelynn doesn't kill her target because she was off by like 10 hp? Nah fam, I'll get the rope out and hang myself now because this life ain't worth living.

It needs the indicator because it is too hard to properly figure out if it will kill in the heat of the moment consistently and you will just have to guess. If you guess wrong, welp you are fucked and wasted your time really.

I'm sorry but i don't think any champ needs that much handicap. At first it'll be like that where people miss the ult, but if you want to learn that champ and get good with them, then take the time and learn their damage and what will kill when. That is on the player, riot should not give players this much help in a game that requires so much though to play. If you feel that it is too hard to figure if something will kill then wait for them to be really low, or learn to play her, don't cry to riot to fix your problems because you don't want to take the effort to learn her.

I mean I get why it shouldn't have one but I also understand the need for one.

FYI I didn't give a shit about this, just stating why it was added. The indicator isn't even really a handicap nor was it a meaningful thing to learn. Most players that play her enough will realize how much it does in time but even then it's hard to tell because of % HP damage meaning it's number will vary a lot. I don't see any reason to shoot new Eve players in the foot on something like this. It just helps them learn and then get used to it rather than guess for the first 20 games and fail terribly.

Zed has one on Death Mark too which a lot of people seem to be forgetting too, but it doesn't dumb him down, it just is a tool to let new Zed players not guess if their ult will kill or not.

Where is Zeds indicator saying it will kill? Zeds is purely based on the damage you do after. If you are referring to the indicator that does pop up for Zed that is telling you that you will gain ad from killing them with your ult, it has absolutely nothing to do with if it will kill of not.

You mean the giant floating shurikan that appears massively above their head during Death Mark letting you know the target will die? Yeah, it exists. Look it up yourself. The Mark pops above anyone's head that will die from Death Mark.
