I'm still amazed that Riot has done NOTHING about Yasuo's Windwall

Yasuo's W, literally one of THE most complained ability in the history of League. Went untouched despite the number of complains made about it. Not even giving it an HP bar or anything else.

It has a long cooldown, one of the longest cooldowns on a non-ultimate in the game.

If you force him to use it, even if it costs using one of your strongest spells, that's a win. You now have 15+ seconds to harass him, and you'll get your powerful spell that he needed to block back before he gets Windwall back to block it.

For example, Ahri. If you can line up a charm on Yasuo, you either forced him to take an early back or you outright killed him with your combo. He needs to block your charm in order to survive your spell rotation and stay in lane, so he wants to save Windwall for that. You know this. Throw out the charm with the sole purpose of baiting the Windwall. If he doesn't block it, great, follow up with the rest of your rotation. If he does, commit nothing else. Back off, let the wave push to you, and try to charm him again as soon as you get your charm back. He won't have Windwall to block it this time.

Just because something is complained about doesn't mean the devs are going to fix it. Yasuo is annoying, but he's overall balanced. Once he gets a 100% pick/ban rate in pro play like Akali had, then maybe they'd consider making some changes.

Even if the CD is long, it's not like he needs it every 10 or 15 secs anyway, and besides, every other ability of his (including passive effects) of no or very low CDs. What's more, Yas provides TEAMWIDE utility with his windwall. Maybe if his windwall wasn't a better version Braun's shield (you know, an actually tank with next to zero damage) people would stop complaining.

He's a melee fighter with low burst damage. If he doesn't need his Windwall to live, you aren't harassing him enough.

Braum's shield may not block everything for the full duration, but the cooldown is significantly shorter and Braum can move it around to keep the shield relevant in a fight. Windwall is only really good in a teamfight if it's static. If one team is chasing the other, the Windwall quickly becomes useless since it doesn't move with the team. Braum's shield can move with the team, and is up over twice as often. Braum also has more health and resistances than Yasuo. He doesn't pop like a balloon without his shield.

Are you calling 100% crit chance low burst? Because I see that as burst per second. Also, Yas has dashes and two free Shields (passive plus ult activation) to deal with those pesky pine mages. By the time they actually start to hit him and break through his Shields, they run out of mana

iiGazeii1 votes

Yes, I am calling 100% crit chance low burst, because even though one auto attack probably hurts a lot, he can't 100-0 you with one combo unless he's extremely fed.

His ult is gated behind him landing a slow, telegraphed skillshot. If you side step the tornado, he doesn't have an ult, and consequently, does not have a free shield.

You don't need to spend mana to break through his shields. Auto attack him once while his meter is full, wait literally one second, and he has no more shield.

Yasuo can be outplayed. That's the whole crux of his design. Yes, he's extremely mobile. Yes, he can block projectiles. Yes, he can have a lot of shields. However, everything he does is telegraphed and avoidable. You know when he will have a shield. You know when he has his tornado. Windwall's cooldown is ferociously long. You have all the power to avoid and mitigate everything Yasuo can do.

Further, he needs to push. His mobility damages the wave. He needs to land his Q to charge up the tornado. Yasuo needs to constantly be in contact with the wave, which means that his wave is always pushing to you. If you do nothing but last-hit, he will be forced to stand very far forward for CS, making him easy to gank and easy to chase down for a kill.

Yes, it's shocking how they'll gut Akali so quickly (which was needed and is a good thing) but the response to yasuo is to just deal with it.

Hethalean3 votes

I think they feel that Yasuo wind wall has sufficient work around where there was nothing you can do to akali.

Khabith1 votes

Aka walk through it, but the boards are just mad because boohoo they lost another game to yasuo.

Hethalean2 votes

It's basically one of those feelsbad moments sometimes where it's pretty powerful for how long it lasts compared to other measures like Fiora Parry. There is counterplay to it though, but sometimes it feels entirely BS on how it works. The hitbox for projectiles on it is larger than you'd expect.

Though basically, if you can fight yasuo 1v1 in melee, run through it so you can hit him (which as a range, it's unlikely you will unless you're way more fed than him in which case he might just dosido around it since you're in melee and he can hit you but you can't hit him), or flee from it honestly.

Riposte, is an extremely powerful ability with a shorter cooldown, and it can also cc

Hethalean1 votes

Yeah, it can CC which I agree that it's an important distinction. I'd argue there are wider moments of power for Yasuo windwall. For instance, ~~it ~~ Riposte can CC, but ~~it ~~ Riposte also more or less CC's Fiora. The utility of Yasuo Windwall is greater I'd expect.

I'm not suggesting Yasuo Windwall is OP, but I am just saying I get the frustration of Yasuo WIndwall (which seems pretty ubiquitously feelsbadman). However, comparable diver defensive measures (like Fiora Parry or Irelia W) don't seem to feel as bad man. I agree that Yasuo n eeds some form of protection, but I'm just trying to highlight the origins of feelsbad for yasuo W. imo

Khabith1 votes

" For instance, it can CC, but it also more or less CC's Fiora." Are we still talking about his windwall? Plus his windwall is better, which is why it has a longer cool down, is that so hard to understand?

Hethalean1 votes

Sorry, you're right. I just edited it for clarity. That is my bad for being so ambiguous! Hope my edit clears it up. (I was talking about Fiora W being able to CC).

Also for your argument on "Lower cooldown", I would wager that the difference between 24 and 26 seconds is negligible really. 6 and 8 seconds? big difference, but I wouldn't think 24 and 26 seconds is much of a difference. Especially when I know Fiora builds cdr but I don't think Yasuo does much. I'd have to double check.

Yes, cooldown does matter. However, if someone had a 'Deal 100% max health true dmg to target champion' with no cast animation or particle but it was on a 20 minute cooldown. Yes, it has the longest cooldown in the game, but that would probably feel pretty awful. Akali W is also a long cooldown, but people still found it frustrating.

I don't know why you're getting hostile with the 'is that so hard to understand'. it seems like you're trying to argue against something I'm not saying. If you reference the other messages I've had that I'm not saying Yasuo W is OP, but just trying to highlight how an ability feels bad which has nothing to do with how long of a cooldown it is. A lot of people would suggest Fizz E feels insanely bad, but it's on a relatively short cooldown.

kingDeDeDarius1 votes

Exactly

kingDeDeDarius1 votes

Walking through windwall means walking into melee range of Yas, which is almost never a logical option for adcs and mages

Spicy Rice1 votes

So walk away from it to force him to chase you.

Abibyama II3 votes

Because no one gives a shit about Yasuo except this internet website

kingDeDeDarius1 votes

Ikr, especially when akali didn't have an opening winrate after the first round of nerfs. Aka, she was nerfed further due to be toxic to play against, and maybe Yas needs that treatment too, bit there are too many Yas mains.

Khabith4 votes

Yall do know that thing has like a 23 second cooldown right?

kingDeDeDarius2 votes

Darius E starts at 30 secs and very few people even complain about it so what's your point? His windwall blocks ultimates with 100 sec cds

Plenty of people complain about that ability, you can dodge and still get yoinked in. "his windwall blocks ultimates with 100 sec cds" ummmm boohoo? A 600 item blocks everything in the game. and plenty of other things can cancel others within league.

kingDeDeDarius1 votes

To put it more clearly, yasuo's windwall can cancel MULTIPLE ABILITIES TEAMWIDE. He also gets an aoe knockup on top of an incredibly potent and synergistic outplay kit. The least they could do is give yas's wall hp bars and or flow resource management. As is, Yas is completely resource management free (3 q doesn't count, his 3 q is on even lower CD than many other champs ranged or cc abilities due to how well it scales with AS and and how easily he can procc it). And no, darius doesn't pull people who dodged the the ability, what you are referring to is when Darius casts his pull BEFORE someone flashes or dashes away, but their animation is quicker than his, giving the appearance that it pulled after they dashes. It's much like darius's ult. If he casts it on you while you are in range, he will dunk you even if you flash away during animation time. Also, zhonyas doesn't block anything. If brand or ezreals or some other champ uses a skill shot aoe ability on someone who uses zhonyas, the ability continues on and potentially hits other champs. Yas players are just greedy man, what can I say? You want everything and can't even make a small concession except by excruciating force (Yas only getting armor pen on crits after ulting). The only two things that Yas doesn't actually have in his kit to naturally are in kit sustain (easy remedy with lifesteal items especially since his q proccs healing on minion waves) and a high ho pool (easily remedied with frozen mallet and steraks or bloodthirster or GA while sacrificing very little damage, also counters that weakness with three Shields including the windwall and with counterplay info dashes to avoid damage)

Khabith3 votes

Should we nerf fiddle because his fear is point and click, and cancel a lot of ultimates?

Stars Shaper2 votes

Complained doesn't mean that it's unbalanced, especially when there is enough counterplay to it.

WeeWeeBojangles1 votes

Have you tried lasers or punching him?

PinkStar Archie1 votes

That must be a joke. Lasers? Well, the biggest problem is, that it not let some lasers pass. Like Victor's laser. It is based on blocking projectiles, but it block a lot more than projectile. Really, is Braum's ultimate a projectile? Don't think so, but hey, windwall will stop that. That's the point, and That's the problem. Let it stop only projectiles, shots but not other spells like Braum's ultimate.

Salron1 votes

So we should nerf it based on feelings? Get real

taleofsonata1 votes

I am shock that you can windwall and sit on it and nullifie both side skillshots.
