Morgana Mid versus Support

Until this patch Morgana mid was a pretty rare pick. I OTPed Morgana mid for the past 10 years and chose support as my off role.

Generally, Morgana support has been a counter a pick. Her win rates have been average. She was really only used against certain champions. With the recent buffs I suppose she's a solid general pick bot lane. Her unfavorable match ups are not insanely unfavorable, and her favorable match ups are extremely good for her.

At this point Riot needs to decide Morgana's role in ths game. Her damage ratios are high enough that she can be a respectable mid lane mage. Her shield is good enough that she can be a respectable support. Supposedly, Riot doesn't want a champion to be a solid pick in more than one role. I guess that's fine. So which role should Morgana take?

Mid Lane Morgana:

• Power farms about as well as Xerath, Talon, Ekko, Velkoz, Malzahar, Lissandra, and other meta mid laners.
• Roams better than other mages, but worse than most assassins
• Lane is about as safe as Leblanc and other champions who have a dash.
• Late game provides excellent picks and peel for the team's carry, but doesn't personally carry well.
• Is weak against early game shove lanes like Talon and Ekko. She cannot tower farm if power pushed.

Support Morgana:

• Counters Alistar, Leona, and Pyke. But will die instantly to any of them in lane if any mistake is made.
• Very weak to long range poke mages bot like Velkoz and Xerath. Provides very little sustain in lane.
• Terrible into Nami, Soraka, and Sona unless you're trying to play a kill lane. (Draven/Morgana, Lucian/Morgana, etc) Vayne Morgana into something like Sona and an average adc is actual aids.
• Late game provides excellent pick and peel for the adc.

Personally, I think she's fairly balanced because whichever role she chooses she can't perform the other role well in the same game. For example, if you go mid and you max W > Q > E then her shield is a very long cooldown and it's weak. If you're support and you do Q > E > W and build support items then her damage is pretty mediocre for a mage.

So what role do you think Morgana should be in?
