Discussion on the state of the game

I've been playing this game since season 2/3 and never has it felt more dull. I'm not one to complain alot or bash on Riot, but alot of stuff don't make sense this season I feel like the game is in an horrible state especially for botlane. Ranked is also really weird right now, I feel like teams are always so unbalanced weither I win or lose. I'm standing somewhat close to 60% win rate so this isn't a ''MUH TEAM'' or ''Rito plz'' kinda thread.

I just want to point out some of my concerns ;

  • First turret gold need to go imo, it's totally ruining the botlane experience, there's always like 6-7 people down bot all game long and it basically turns the game into a coinflip, it's a total clown fiesta down there. It doesn't feel good to win and it doesn't feel bad to lose it's just like ''meh ADC ziggs took first tower in 5 minutes, now what?'' It was way better back when you could actually trade and CS and had to worry about a gank coming from time to time, now i'm just afraid to trade because I know the dive is coming.

  • Towers used to feel useless, now they are beyond useless; countless people have stated that, and I feel the same way they aren't doing any meaningful damage and don't get me started on nexus turrets, who thought it was a good idea to remove laser ?

  • Jungle is just fucking ridiculous right now, I remember back in season 4 and 5 when the JG was in a healthy spot.. now jungler have more gold and XP than laners ?

  • Keystones are OP and break the game they need to go, they are not needed and I don't feel like they are healthy for the game but maybe that's just me ?

  • Anything that is late game or take times to ramp up just feel useless at the moment, the game is decided way too early and fights last about 5 seconds I actually kinda miss the Cinderhulk meta. I dont know maybe i'm wrong but the mobility and damage creep just feel over the top right now.

Feel free to discuss anything I won't be offended by any comment as long as it's constructive and help the discussion move foward maybe i'm wrong on some stuff. ???

Competitive gaming (albeit I'm trash at MOBA's since I'm 30 now, but I digress) since 1997:

  • Game is too burst-y, damage all across the board needs to be toned down, or defensive stats or abilities need to be tuned up. This level of burst leaves little room for outplay potential. I say that with care, as I feel the champions designed specifically to be burst-y perhaps should be, but only them, not everyone in the game, as it stands.

  • Game is too short lived, lane being relevant was good, however, it just ends the game now instead of just being a punishment for underperforming in lane. This has affected champion balance in a huge way, such as my main, lux, never falling off.

I feel like Damage creep isn't really a damage creep but more of a buff creep. I want you to think how many times Riot has nerfed champions in the past year. Barely any nerfs.

Jayce is an example. Seems like he rotated out of the meta. Still never nerfed. Leblanc is an example of buffing a champion for no reason. She went from bursts someone instantly to same thing but now they know I am PLUS waveclear. What's the trade off for her gaining wave clear? None. Nothing. All Riot has done buffed champions and reducing their trade offs. Jayce once had to build tear. Now he doesn't. What trade off does he have for better natural mana? None. Nothing.

Honestly Riot should stop buffing things are just nerf things until champions are about as good as balance champions like Ahri or even Darius. Both can be really strong but are also very telegraphed. Then they should buff/rework champions and classes, but this time when reworking don't just buff the champion. Give them meaningful counterplay and tradeoffs.

I've been playing this game since 2010 and I completely agree with you.

For me it comes down to a few things: .1. Hybridised classes out doing both specialist classes. What I mean by this is fighters (juggernauts and divers), which share similar beef/damage/utility traits....... out doing tanks (vanguards/wardens) and slayers (assassins/skirmishers) on all fronts. Champs like VI, hec and lee sin pummel almost every tank and melee carry there is in the jungle (naut, sej, yi, trynd, udyr) while juggernauts and ranged champs (darius, quinn, ryze) rule the world top lane (some juggernauts even shred against the ranged turdlings). As a tank main..... I just vouched for master feken yi, the little twat who made games hell in season 3 (ooooooohhhhh the AP yi). Champs I despise due to their stupidly absurd tank shred due to on-hit/dps synergy.

A 4:6 (beef:dmg) tank carry (VI) should not out damage an assassin or skirmisher. And a 6:4 (beef:dmg) tank carry should not out beef a vanguard or warden (granted tanks should out dmg and slayers shouldn't out tank)

.2. The new jungle feels like ass, no questions asked. It punishes level 6 gankers (WW/fiddle) and slow clear tanks (naut, mao, tahm kench). Raptors are difficult for many to clear early, krugs aren't even worth the time they take to split apart and the blast cone saves people way to often. The vision fruit gives an obscene amount of information for the amount of effort it takes to use it. Honey fruit isn't as bad as many thought (fizz survives karth ult). Many saw it as the most problematic fruit initially but I believe it's acceptable and actually vital for any non-top-5 jungler to function.

Riot wanted people to play around fruits (as in plan to use them) but in most cases they just luck out and it's "OH GOODY I GET TO SURVIVE!", "may as well hit this vision thingy, it'll hit a ward no matter where it goes" or "free mana".

.3. You mentioned towers and I 100% agree. I remember in season 4, I got into mundo but kayle was somewhat popular at the time. I cowered under my tower last hitting with my Q till I was fat enough to sit on kayle till she died. Now, minions kill the tower before I can reach that point. Furthermore kayle and a squishy carry jg can dive without juggling agro and decimate me while escaping death free.

.4. Anything you said and I didn't

Everything you see in this post is true

Turrets Damage really does need to be increased. I took 3 turret shots as an Ahri earlier in ranked, and came out alive a kicking.

I agree with pretty much everything you said except for the fact that they also need to revert skarner and add CD to the slow so he doesnt perma slow and become insta op and can be balanced.

i think the game is fine, the only unhealthy thing is the fact that you can 1shot other players. This one shotting is mostly cuz of the lack of champion level. Yes experience if you are the same level you can easy fight with a tower to stop the gank. You prob know the toplane scenario where you die once and its lv 6 vs lv8 AKA nothing you can do lane is lost he will just kill you over and over and over and even if you get a gank you will just get double killed? Well that is cuz you have lower exp/level. So lets make duo exp gain 70-75% gain instead of 65.2% just a little more love will make botlane a happy place again i'm 100% sure of this and really hope riot sees this. It's an easy change that will make everything fine AND it will open a whole new meta ^^ there should be diffrent botlane comps then the usual adc+ support. what do you think ?

Too much damage become a problem not long after masteries were changed to include keystones. And that makes sense; keystones are so powerful that they can change the playstyles of champions that take them. They added a bunch of damage that wasn't there before. And what defensive options did we get to counteract that? Grasp (nerfed down to a shadow of its former self), Bond (nerfed down to almost nothing), and SoA (which nearly every jungler took and that's why it's gone now). CoC showed us a glimmer of hope for a defensive keystone, but Riot is more content to nerf it over and over again rather than buff it's peers in the resolve tree.

Speaking of the resolve tree; we have one tree for DPS, one for burst damage, and one for defense. Guess which one is the weakest. Here's a hint: it's the one that supposed to hold the other two in line.

Colossus is like Cinderhulk; it made the majority of the tanks in the game useful again, but because one or two abused the hell out of it no one gets to have it.

I feel that fights should last longer (which seems to be the direction Rito is moving). Longer fights require more skill, better positioning, and can make for more interesting and strategic choices as opposed to simply jumping on an enemy or pressing a button and having them die (e.g. Syndra). It is not as though only the enemy team can utilize what is relatively broken, however. Both sides can make use of keystones and FOTM champions and a lot still requires knowledgeable gameplay albeit lower mmrs can be a bit of a clown fiesta.

Jungle is just fucking ridiculous right now, I remember back in season 4 and 5 when the JG was in a healthy spot.. now jungler have more gold and XP than laners ?

Not anymore they don't. And "more gold" was never the case.

Keystones are OP and break the game they need to go, they are not needed and I don't feel like they are healthy for the game but maybe that's just me ?

As per usual, you don't back this up with anything and explain why masteries that do nothing but give you flat stats are better.

Anything that is late game or take times to ramp up just feel useless at the moment,

That might have something to do with the Vayne QQ from a few weeks ago. And the Cait QQ. Call me crazy.

Unless you mean you can't farm for 30 minutes while ignoring the rest of the map. In which case. lol.

the game is decided way too early

a) this is elo hell talk b) What do you want? That when the enemy team gets a lead, it shouldn't matter?

fights last about 5 seconds

No. They don't. There is no proof for that ridiculous assertion.

mobility and damage creep just feel over the top right now.

See above.

It is just the pre season. We will get tanks as the season goes on. This happens every preseason
