You know why every one hates yi?

Ash Lockheart··5 votes·1,254 views

Every one hates him not because he can carry hard. Not because hes a Op champ. But because most players that play him afk farm and only fights if every one has 100 to less health. You know you want to just cry when you see him still farming after the enemy team is working on the last tower and about to get that inib. But that's why most hate him. Now yes there are great Yi players out there that farm and gank to get there stacks, or to get items. The the great players work with the team and dive with alpha strike.

Yi has his clear weaknesses, he is afraid of every hard cc in the game and some soft cc's like blinds, when he is in, he is in and has to run away if he fucks up or use well timed alpha strikes

If i get mauled by a Yi I feel it's much more fair then when I get mauled by Yasuo Riven

I find Yi balanced.

That's why I generally get item 3140 when I play Yi, no matter if I am building full AD or bruiser Yi.

I hate Yi because his steroid duration is ENTIRELY too long in combination with the cooldown reduction mechanisms. For fuck's sake, might as well give them 100% up time.

Immunity to movement slows.... yeah, okay, it might be hard to do your job if you can't reach the target. But complete immunity to attack speed slows on an attack speed steroid of 80 fucking %? Fuck off. Fuck right off, that is too much.

Not like he is a sqishy melee assassin that relies on his auto attacks to do a bulk of his damage.

Or would you eather they gut his ult, b7t give him back his old ap ratios?

People still think that you should build him as a squishy melee assassin.

With that build item 3931 item 3153 item 3047 item 3071 item 3143 item 3139 I can still kill squishies very quickly, while being very tanky, enough to not be instabursted late game, allowing Yi to do a lot more things during a teamfight.

Also, QSS/Mercurial Scimitar allows Yi to bypass his biggest weakness: CC.

A melee assassin isn't a melee assassin if he runs up to you and autos you. And absolutely give him back his old AP ratios. The purpose of a rework is NOT to make the champ more cancerous, despite what Riot believes.

And that's why he is so strong. He laughs at the thing that hard counters every other melee carry: attack speed slows.

Not only that, Master Yi laughs at your attempts to build defensively against him. He can completely bypass armor with his true damage E and the magic damage from Sated Devourer. Yi is impossible to 1x1. Not even Nasus with lots of stacks can outduel Yi assuming that Yi knows the right time to activate his ult. Not even Jax can outduel Yi if he uses Alpha Strike at the correct time before Grandmaster's Might stuns. A number of other champions that can outduel Yi early game - Udyr, Lee Sin, Riven, Irelia, Darius - fail to do so during the late game, or even mid game.

I don't even know why Master Yi isn't more popular to be honest. He is completely broken if properly built. He might be balanced for the competitive environment, but he is THE God of SoloQ. Thankfully, being unpopular means that I don't have to ban him since I am unlikely to face him. But if Master Yi was more popular, I would ban him because he is honestly too powerful, I have faced him AND played him enough to know that.

What is "properly built"? I go against Yis that build full damage and they are pretty easy to burst down.

You don't need to build Yi full damage. You can build him with bruiser/tank items. I've posted a build above that is very tanky and still deals tons of damage.

I am mad because letting his movement speed buff his dance made him too OP.

How am I supposed to win Dancing with the Champions with that broken swordsman?

Clearly the dancing competition is rigged.

I'm pretty sure if Yi becomes a problem to you in the game then it's your junglers fault for not being smart enough to counter gank him if he could. Xin Zhao on the other hand is much more of a problem as he's a better duelist than Yi.

Xin Zhao, better duelist than Yi? Not really. Yi can auto-attack 2 times at once, has a damage reduction skill, has a true damage/AD steroid, has an attack speed steroid that makes him IMMUNE to attack speed slows. I don't see how Xin Zhao is a better duelist. All he has is an armor penetration passive, a damage steroid, and sustain. Xin Zhao is a good duelist, but Master Yi is an exceptional duelist. Xin Zhao gets outdueled by many champions. Nobody can outduel Master Yi.

There's a reason why you want to farm when playing as Master Yi. A bunch of Yi players think too much about helping and try useless ganks hoping that somehow it will work. Yeah nope. A great player does not mean always playing with your team and helping them out. A great player uses the ressources he has at his disposition, thinks about what he can do with it, and does it. It's a bad idea to try a play that has a low chance to work, and this chance depends on your opponent being bad, when you can just farm up and get stronger. And as Master Yi, throughout the early game, the best solution is usually farming. That does not mean that you have to be blind to what happens in the lanes, etc. Sometimes there are good opportunities that you should take. Actually, I'd rather take TP as master yi to have potential influence on the map. See overextended opponents, countergank, splitpush are things you can do with TP. Once you reach your powerspikes however, it's way easier to have an influence. You melt people easily, you're basically godmode by having literally 2 items (item 3718 item 3153 . Yi is also probably the best duellist in the game (lategame the guy easily beats 1000 stacks 400 armor 3k health 40% cdr Nasus for instance), so his splitpush presence is enormous.

The problem is that many players think you should only farm as Yi and don't even care about your team.

Yi is all about taking all the possible opportunities to gank, and farming otherwise. His ability to gank early game is extremely understimated. With Red Buff for example, he can gank as early as level 2/3.

What's really underestimated imo is his duelling potential earlygame. Yi has one of the best early duellings in the game. He is actually stronger than sthg like Lee Sin/Riven in a melee 1v1 lvl 1-3, because his autoattacks are huge at that point, he has pretty good base stats. However, due to the nature of his kit, he's still pretty bad as ganking and he has a weak phase from lvl 4 on (compared to other champions of the same level). Also his ult giving %steroids, while they do give him insane scaling, give him a pretty weak powerspike compared to other champions' lvl 6.

Malzahar would be the best duelist in the game, but unfortunately item 3140 does not allow that.

Okay so he's the best duelist in Bronze/Silver where no one knows what a item 3140 is.

Yea, sadly once one got item 3139 Malzahar becomes pretty garbage at duelling. He is still exceptionally good against assassins that don't have it/ as a tankmelter with his pool %health, but not really that much of a duellist.

That's not why I hate Yi. I personally hate him because he just runs into your team, jumps on you, and then 2-shots you before your support or anyone can peel, or heck, before you can even jump away. 7k damage crits at 2 AS is pretty stupid. His only weakness is CC, and he can get a Mercurial Scimitar to cleanse one off, plus he kills someone fast enough for it not to matter for at least one person, not to mention in my low elo tanks thing they're the carry and completely leave the carries to go 1v1 someone. Not to say I don't do that, guilty as charged, but still annoying as fuck.

Just delete Yi and get it over with. One of the most aggravating SoloQ champions AND all of his toxic as hell mains would be gone! I see zero downsides to this course of action. (Not saying all Yi players are terrible people... Just the vast majority of them.)

Ventira1 votes

The reason I hate Yi, regardless of where he is played, is that he's got too many goddamn steroids. Not as much as Vayne, but still an obnoxious amount.

I'm sorry, but if I flash over a wall AND vault away and Yi STILL catches up me without flashing over the same wall, there is a fucking PROBLEM.

You know why I hate Yi? It doesn't matter how much I build armor / HP, it doesn't matter how much I attack him, it doesn't matter if I'm in the middle of my whole team... if I'm squishy, he'll right-click me and instantly kill me, and then go on to kill the rest of my team in ~2 seconds. Zero effort/skill required, yet he has some of the highest damage in the game -- though apparently that's balance.

That's why I hate Yi. ^^

Stellafreyja1 votes

I just can't stand the fact that he has the highest base speed in the game (355; shared with only 3 other champions) AND his ult is a speed multiplier AND he can't be slowed during it. His base speed should honestly be a lot lower. Look at Miss Fortune. Her passive gives her movement speed, but she has the lowest base speed in the game to offset that. Master Yi needs his base move speed lowered and he'd be fine.
