Stop yelling at support to ward!

First off they changed how wards are done. So you can only put down 3 for one person. That is only a small area of the map.

Two you all get free wards that turn in to a small sight stone that can drop 2 at a time.

And lastly riot did say that want to have more players ward insted of having it be just one person.

I hate when I haven't recalled for a while because we're taking or contesting objectives (that dance can last a while sometimes), and as soon as I have no wards left and they time out, someone is like "Fucking dumbass support isn't warding". Like seriously? Where are your refillable wards buddy? Sure as hell not on the map. Mine don't refresh.

Sometimes it makes me want a live in-game ward counter to show how much each person is dropping so you can actively work on it; you can tell them to look at the ward total after the match ends, but they've probably already decided you're garbage and harassed you until muted and would only stick around in the lobby to do it some more.

History tells me that's not case in many matches. Match history will tell me how many wards someone placed.

I see people with sightstone who placed less than 10-15 wards. They're certainly not warding effectively and should be called out.

The whole purpose of support is to simply take abuse from the rest of the team.

IcyPepper11 votes

The role is support, not therapist.

Supports seems to be the scapegoat most of the time. They take the blame for nearly everything.

Hawkefire2 votes

The only time I get annoyed at the support about warding is if the support literally doesn't have any wards out on the map. Or if the support (for whatever reason) refuses to buy a sightstone.

Yes I know that warding is everyone's responsibility, but that doesn't mean that warding isn't one of the supports primary roles.

keeping teammates alive is the primary role. warding is a secondary action to achieve the primary role.

When i played as Lulu support one game, and some of my teams mates were praising me for keeping them alive..but we had that one who went 2/6 mid, and complained to me about the lack of wards on the map..everyone else shut that guy down fast.at the time my wards had expired and i was holding bot for about 10mins alone (we had a temp DC) with 0 charges on my item 2049 and i did not want to lose the tower so, i choose not to base for more wards, so that one guy got on my case about it, and the rage was too unreal. xD

RisenDarkKnight3 votes

It's pretty reasonable to not have any wards up a lot of times. Suppose you come from base and place 3 wards and the enemy clears 1. So you place another. Now your sightstone is empty. If the team groups and pushes a lane then goes for dragon, you don't want to recall and abandon them, so if you stay for 3 minutes all your wards expire. After the grouping is over and the support recalls to get more wards, people will often say "GG support no wards" before they get a chance to go out and place the next round.

The problem is when a support has 4 in inventory, has been running around for 5 mins and atill has 4 in inventory to use.

I Have a problem with people who walk around an unwarded jungle for whatever reason with 0 wards, no upgraded trinket or pinks, die, or barely make it out alive, then complain to the only person who does have wards(support) about how they aren't using them....i'm not justifying the fact that the sup should not ward despite having the wards on them, in fact i find that to be an irritating scenerio to be in. But if you truly cared about vision, you would buy a ward or two yourself(or upgrade your trinket to a totem). and keep yourself safe. especially if you know you have the gold to do so....mid and late game, its insanely easy to go farm 75/100/250g for a ward via jungle camps or minions..

That feeling when you spend time hunting for wards only to realize the enemy team doesn't have any.

Vincent Lucius1 votes

That feeling when you see the enemy support didn't but a sight stone, most of the enemy team didn't upgrade their trinkets, and last guy didn't even take a trinket. Everyone in the bush. Now.

DazedOnlooker1 votes

That feel when you see that 25mins into the game, the enemy support still has only a basic ward trinket, and no sightstone which explaines why you didn't find a single ward using your sweeper the entire game..... so you swap out your item 3364 for a item 3361 and sell your item 2045 so you can buy a item 3285 item 3060 item 3157 item 3089 item 2043 x2 and item 1332....

I forgot to mention that one of the many enemy supports that i ran into that did this was a fking Blitzcrank.........every time.

ChaosThief2 votes

Actually if you use both charges of the trinket and then wait for the 3rd you can have 3 wards on the map at a time, just from a single trinket.

IcyPepper1 votes

Did you know that conservative purchases (but existent) of wards, specifically pinks, and liberal use of your trinket will not impede your build as the ADC if your mechanics, positioning, and map awareness are on par?

Sightstone can only stretch so far, relieve some weight from your support so they can ward more offensively/defensively than the common and predictable tribush/dragon/river spots. You think we junglers are fooled?

I'll still tell the supp to buy/use sighstone if they're not doing that (or in some situations upgraded yellow trinket work). Of course I upgrade my own trinket and provide wards, but warding is not a solo effort.

And fourth, the green trinket laners get is actually way better than Sightstone because it recharges.

I really wish Riot would address this. Especially later in the game, the support's ability to ward actually becomes less than the rest of the team unless you're constantly backing.

Seriously I had a game recently where I had 3 wards placed at all times (and the occasional pink) and I was constantly yelled at by 2 members of my team to ward more despite that I had max wards placed and neither had upgraded their trinkets or bought a ward all game long (and it was 35-40 mins when this started).

FooDang1 votes

Its not about supports not warding. Its about supports not warding effectively. Yea you might have enemy blue lit up like a christmas tree but those wards are worthless if they are in our red jungle and its just a big massive fog of war. Go back to the fountain and recharge your sightstone so you can ward where we need vision and not where we dont. Yea its not only the supports job to ward but it is the supports job to shift vision to where its needed.

People yell to yell. As supp and jg you can't win. When you are supp you ward they get mad you didn't ward right places . You ward where they tell you too you are to late. You go to ward the ADC runs in and dies and yells at you for leaving lane. You just can't win, the sad thing is most people in normal have no map awareness at all. That being said as jg I go in and help gank when they ping I go in and they do nothing then they bitch that you didn't ping when they called you to their lane in first place. Second you ping and then head up to gank letting them know you are coming. They run in before you get to the bush and they die then they get mad you didn't help. So then I say in chat "going to get blue/red then coming to (lane)" after the kill i go up and ping to be on the safe side i go in and fighting champ while they kill minions. Then you get blamed for not waiting till he killed minions first. This doesn't happen all the time but it does happen and it's just sad at times that people are fast to blame others then themselves for mess ups.

Get out of low elo (Olympic Medals) and you won't see anyone yelling about wards.... #loweloproblems

You'll have to do some digging, but there is a GREAT board thread on this topic. Someone did the math and found that the entire team buying an upgraded trinket essentually removes the need for a sightstone entirely, leaving the support with another item (Hopefully one with more than 200 HP...) AND allowing the maximum number of wards on map per person! Sure, anyone using sweeper lowers that output, but it's still an excellent point that for most pub and lower level ranked games don't need people complaining about this.
