Why Is Riot Nerfing Aurelion Sol Out of the Blue?
Why are they nerfing a pretty underpowered champion to the ground, I don't get it.

Because we believe he's overpowered and that that will be an issue we need to act on before patch 6.8. We're nerfing him in 6.7 as a result, because we feel he'll be a clear issue soon even if that's not widely visible yet.
So all these years he's been in developement you still release him over powered. You're so good at your job Meddler, you deserve a pat on the back.
Unnecessary.
For the record he wasn't in development for all these years. This isn't Ao Shin.
DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THIS? IT'S NOT AO SHIN PEOPLE. PUT AWAY THE PITCH FORKS!
It is what he turned into. Your remark is invalid.
The whole kit was revamp, and they took a hiatus from Ao Shin cause they were stumped while making him.

???
in other words new mage items in 6.8 aka the mage rework
Uh...Middle of april isn't mid year...it's not until June or July
No, they just think people are going to learn how to play him as well as the top-level Aurelion Sol players right now, and then he'll be broken. No way we're getting the mage update in 6.8.

Something to do with new AP itemization in the upcoming mage update?
Probably something to do with learning curves. I doubt he is Azir level, but he looks pretty difficult to pick up to me.

excuse my bluntness, but why the FUCK wasn't this done with fiora, Graves, Soraka, Tahm Kench, or countless other soloqueue terrors that are or had been running rampant across league the past 6 months?

Because they are all AD or supports. And riot only nerf mages

Lux.
Lux got her shield nerfed. Her damage is not a problem, and she is very mata gated early on.

nice strawman.
Because they are Riot fanboys
It was done with all of them (even Graves). Try looking in the patch notes a bit more.

instant reactionary nerfs before people even know whats up with them? yeah, never fuckin happened. they remained broken pieces of shit for literally months.
I didn't say instant. I was frustrated too. But relax, dude. I don't think trying to make a Rioter mad at you is going to help.
I dont want to sound snarky but i find it a bit ironic that you were so fast with Aurelion when Lucian dominates soloQ and pro play since day 1 of the preseason and you dont seem to bother much (except if you believe that the 200 range nerf to his ulti was actually meaningful)
It's ok, if anyone took Riot's idea of balance seriously anyway they'd not say anything about it and just calmly play another game
cough cough Blade and Soul
idk, b@s isnt that great >.> i'm thinking of going and buying a gameboy... {whatever they call them these days} just to have something better than league to do all the time. #pokemon
Meanwhile Kog'maw is close to a 56% winrate...
There's a difference between champions being owerpowered and champions being popular. Also, Riot is preparing for Playoffs, so they might not ignore non-challenger/pro people that want someone buffed or nerfed, they might just have a hard time integrating it to fit the balancing at Playoffs.

Ayyyye meddler got a backbone and finally started telling people they are wrong about shit. Also with annie too. Good stuff keep it up. We need more of this
So much more.

What he means is that he wants Taric post rework to be able to beat him. Obviously.
hmmm... what's his secret OP build that you are targeting... i wonder...
There are so many things that are a clear issue that are willfully ignored.
Hes not really underpowered, he just has very large weaknesses that can be exploited. He actually is quite potent when not hard countered.
to be fair
is pretty fucking powerful as is.... and thats after a month of him being around the rift and people find how strong he is...
Aurelion is a straight forward champ to be honest, which lowers the skill and makes him fairly strong for some effort. His passive and w being really the only odd thing but 1 spell to test with... Q E and R are straightforward and not difficult compared to a lot of champs, and I LIKE THIS. A small new mechanic and existing things instead of every ability trying to do something new...
cough.
I personally love new mechanics, though sometimes they might not turn out the best (Skarner), at least it tells us, that Riot might be trying to renew the game.
I am fine with it as long as it doesn't interfere with the game itself.
is fine, but he should be getting chimes to maximize his usefulness,
game you kinda need them to be effective in areas...
double edged sword passive... it makes you forced to play one way or be meh.... why pick
when
can do most of what he does, same snowballing tendency and doesn't give free gold/vision with passive...
I like it when devs try to renew the game, but when they seem to cater the metas to these new mechanics, it makes me cringe...
hmmmmmm..... might I say we have bigger issues? "cough, cough"
hmmmmmm..... might I say we have bigger issues? "cough, cough"
yea, she still hasnt received the buffs she needs.
Probably so they can buff his W/passive's damage. I would be absolutely pissed if they buffed his damage and he was still able to fly down a lane with a 2 second AOE stun half to three quarters the width of the lane, then following it up with a 4 second slow
Better than buffing him.
6.8 mage update patch confirmed.
If they are nerfing Aurelion Sol, it means that either he currently is over-performing than intended in multiple different circumstances and situations, and/or if he will be over-performing with other changes/update that are also going to come out in the following patches.
Riot test things out in Beta first before they become official, so just slowdown a bit before going on a rant saying he is going to be "nerfed to the ground" before it even becomes official.
Because they're fucking morons and have no idea what they're doing.
I'm not going to say I understand balance issues better than anyone else; but with how Aurelion fares when you know ANYTHING about how to counter him, I can't say I understand nerfing him either.
having played with and against him a few times, and playing him myself, I will say his damage is rather high, and his CC amount is fairly over the average, however if anyone gets within his passive... he dies, flashes, or ults, nothing else really. if his flash or ult is on cooldown, tough luck he dies.
that being said, his ult is rather powerful I suppose, so I could possibly see a nerf... but realistically, I think he's a good example of a balanced design and power level that is getting nerfed too quickly to the point that I really just don't want to even bother putting more time into learning him.
Then this in comparison to the constant Lucian picks, and various other champions that have few or no counterable strategies besides a few specific champions (that if they simply wait till last pick you lose by default) makes me question Riot's decisions on balancing, but I do understand it's a precarious situation with how many champs exist.
