Cho Gath problem is not how much HP get gets on his ult!
His problem is that he has INSANE mana costs in a time where every viable toplaner can spam spells way stronger than he has for next to no mana!

chogath e doesnt cost mana though. and i guess his high mana costs are compensation for the unusually large health sustain he gets off killing minions.
not saying hes fine where he is. just saying i can understand why they gave him these mana costs.
there are passives stronger than this E... its 20-80 bonus dmg per Autoattack on a champion with a painfully low Attackspeed...
Different champion that isn't balanced like Cho is.
Depends how you define balance. YOu have to balance around the average champions power, and when you take the average powerlevel, Cho Gath is horrible underpowered. I mean, his abilities just do one or two things, thats laughable today. and they dont even do that very strong. His W for example is just stupid. it does some decent AoE dmg on a medium cooldown and does a short silence, and that somehow cost 110 mana... 110 mana for an ability that just deals damage and does a silence... His Q is also 90 mana for a delayed Skillshot with a small AoE, yeah if it hits its strong, but nearly every champion can dash out of it these days, alot even on a lower CD than his Q. You need his W to land your Q on any not braindead enemy, that means 200 mana for ONE combo
And let me remind you that this is on a champion with a 272 – 952 mana pool. Let me put it that way: At level 6 you have W on level 3, Q on 1, E on 1 and your ult. If you want to do a full combo now, it cost you 280 mana. You have 430 mana at this point. Your full combo needs 66% of your total mana. And even just using W and Q at this point consumes nearly HALF of your mana... 2 Abilities...

the point is, that its at the same time consistent poke and waveclear without costing mana.
e max chogath just constantly pokes at his enemy while csing and pushing in waves and healing up on the killed minions at the same time. they probably wanted to avoid giving him unlimited lane sustain by making his other spells not too cheap.

Edit: sorry, forgot one
so because of one absolutely medicore passive spell, the rest if his kit should be insanely expensive?

becuase of the spell combined with his passive.
im not disagreeing, that chogath is kindof in the shitter. im just saying i can imagine why they put those mana costs in place when they did.
I was expecting a thread for a nerf but instead found one for a buff.
A nerf? For Cho Gath? Are you freaking serious?
Dude, have you not seen the amount of dumb shit the boards complain about?
I doubt anyone here is dumb enough to think that Cho Gath is OP, hes not even in a good spot right now...

You are severely overestimating this place.
Yeah, maybe you are right...
That awkward moment when you were the one that thought Cho's infinite health would crack the game open worse than a Viegar with 300% AP scaling on his R. ._.
Tbh, I could never dodge rupture. And I remember it taking out 3/4 of my health with a single one. Then again, that was well over a year ago, so… shrug I guess Cho's just one of those champions for me. It's like the rework to Rengar, really. I've had no problem with it (hell, I can actually survive his ult, now, as I can actually see him), but people have been pissed to high hell about it. Conversely, few but me have issues with Cho's new ult.
I disagree.
There are three major problems with Cho'gath.
He is slow for a champion who has no mobility abilities while also being melee. There's no champion in the game who is like this. Even mordekaiser has a conditional movement ability.
His abilities gaining size is good, him getting bigger and being forced to tank more skillshots isn't. He players more like a melee mage with natural tanky stats, not a tank. Of course if he's forced to take hits he will be weak.
Unit collision. At the moment unit collision is a bigger problem than it has ever been, and Cho'gath is simultaneously bigger than he or any other champion has ever been.
The high mana costs and running out of mana in 2-3 spellcasts early on definitely doesn't help. Plus, I think he should regain reduced cooldown and cost on minion/monster eating.
to be honest, i fear e needs a total rework... Hes just a relic of a time where champions were doing one thing good, in a time where most champions are just awesome at many things...

Again, he's weak because he's a melee mage that has to tank more skillshots because he's huge, even though at most he only has 2 times more hp than a normal mage.
And when played as a tank, well, he simply doesn't have that much utility as a tank. His Q and W are awfully hard to hit and unreliable. He E doesn't add much unless he gets attack speed.
It's because Cho'Gath's passive restores mana for him and his E doesn't cost mana, despite being a damage AoE on-hit effect.
