I know I made this thread like a dozen times already but who cares... PLEASE give us pink totems!

The removal of pink ward totems was the worst decision ever.

In a game where every hero, even the supports, are made around 6 item full builds, not being able to pinkward against certain champions is terrible, and one of the biggest reasons stealth is such a big problem in your game.

Take a look at DotA (i know, barely compareable, but for the stealth situation, it is a good example). they have alot of heroes with stealth, even perma stealth, but they have ways to counter it. You can buy a consumeable item that reveals all stealth heroes around you, giving them a debuff that doesnt allow them to become invisible for some time after, you have an item that you carry around, giving your permanent true vision, which is limited to 1 per team and drops when the holder is killed, and they have the wards. The big difference here is: Except foor Hard carries, the heroes dont need 6 items just to stay effective lategame. So they can actually buy that stuff.

In LoL, we dont have this luxury.

So my suggestion would be:

.1. Make it so you can buy wards INSTEAD of a trinket in your trinket slot

OR

.2. Bring the pink ward totem back

OR

.3. Give SR that revealing mist trinket we get in Twisted Treeline.

OR

.4. Allow one member of the team to upgrade the his trinket to something that gives him true vision in a limited range, but is destroyed on death.

They could also bring back Oracle's Elixer or actually give the red trinket items true vision. I cannot for the life of me understand why the red trinket items don't have true vision.

I kind of understand - being able to hard counter stealth champs for free for the rest of the game after upgrading your trinket at level 9 is kinda silly? So I think they wanted to remove that a bit. The problem is that simultaneously to that happening the other trinket counter option that is riskier (places a pink ward, so counterable) but more reliable (...places a pink ward) was entirely removed. If pink trinket stayed in the game I think this change would've been fine, but with its removal it becomes very difficult to counter stealth in the late game.

Don't forget you're giving up your ability to ward to do this.

It's not a hard counter, the thing about most invisible champions is that you don't see them coming,it might help you chase a twitch but it won't help you defend against one(which is how he mostly uses his invisibility), same with rengar, evelynn(well here it just won't do anything), it would be rather effective against vayne or akali, but even then having said trinket means you don't have the ward one, it also means that you need it always off cd so you don't use it to clear wards, and due to it's range it's rather limited to frontliners, so even then there's a meaningful cost.

Use the Oracle and Ghosts to gain vision without pinks is my best suggestion.

Battlecast Sona7 votes

but they don't help you when you have six items and there's a Vayne on the enemy team. Vision from pinks >>>>>> vision from oracle.

ImmortalBloodCY1 votes

Only that a pink gives vision on stealthy enemies and stealth totems plus it has 4 HP where's Oracle has 1 HP and it stays indefinitely in the game as long as your enemy does not kill it, Oracle does too.

I've also missed the pink ward trinket. It helped to secure a lot of vision and keep vision control. Also, there is no reason to keep sweeping lens past level 9, as opposed to the choice you get with yellow trinket (Invisible wards or long range, visible wards). Both sweeping lens and oracle alteration do the exact same thing...but oracle is better.

I'd rather let invisible champions do whatever then have the gold sinks that made meh hate supporting in DotA creep into LoL.

Jet Sett1 votes

Supporting is only fun in Dota when your team can function without you, but benefits greatly from you.

But that would make Akali weaker than she already is =(

Plus Vayne who is barely played anymore would be hurting.

But it would help deal with Talon, Khazix, Talon, Rengar, Talon, Talon , Evelynn , and most importantly, Talon

You forgot twitch who doesn't even need to come close to get a penta.

Sp33d Zer01 votes

But if he isn't close, how much would the pink really help?

Magearna1 votes

You forgot Talon

But it would also allow for some buffs for akali, since her stealth would no longer be a skinn that has no real counterplay lategame

I have a reasonable solution, a 7th item slot for the soul purpose of consumables. You can still have consumables in your normal item slots, but like the trinkit slot, you have a separate dedicated storage area for consumable...and while we are here lets include elixirs for on the fly activation in the field

Well, it seems like most stealth champion are early game champions (with some build exceptions and specific instances), like Shaco, Kha'Zix, Evelynn, and Rengar. This means that they are usually pretty feast or famine, so they need to be ahead early to really be influential, which makes sense why you can buy pink wards in the early and mid game.

To me it makes sense. You buy pink wards early and mid game to counter the early and mid game stealth champions, and in late game you can't really by pinks so that the lead/deficit the stealth champion acquired will stand firm in comparison to other champions.

**TL:DR Stealth champions often have a trend of being early influential and don't scale late, so it makes sense to have pink wards primarily available in the early and mid game. **

If I'm completely missing something tell me.

Option .5. Bring back Oracle's Elixir

I really like the TT like idea for it. I don't think they'd bring back the pink one, cause they usually don't undo what they've done. But bringing in the misty one would be new. Ish. XD

This is something that would be so nice. So nice.

Every champion should have 2 free trinkets at the same time: a pink trinket that holds 1 charge and gets replenished only when you go back to base and our usual yellow trinket that can be upgraded into the blue one for free. That's it. It's unfair that most of the times supports are the only members of their teams that have to give up on a component or a full item to have an empty slot for vision wards. Just give everyone the possibility to hold 1 pink ward and let them use it wisely.

not limited but has a restock time of 9 mins. so you can actually have more than 1 gem on said team but not instantly

I just wanted to poiny out it isn't, unless they changed it, which I don't think they did.

Maybe allow sightstone to give an extra slot for 1 pink ward?

Iceoh1 votes

Or they could give us an extra slot for pink wards.

Which is super dumb that they haven't :(

Caffeint1 votes

Or an elixir for supports that grants vision to stealth champs for a short range around him

I do think it is problematic that there is no pink ward trinket, however, a pink ward trinket makes most stealth champions effectively useless.

If anyone can drop a pink, without sacrificing an item slot, in the late game all stealth champions will just stink. They rely on stealth for their kits to be effective, which is why probably riot made the change.

Also if the entire team on either side is full build and lacks and item slot for a pink ward, the game is probably going on too long (what is that a 45+ minute game)?

I think the best option is to make item 2045 (to buff it) have an alternate activate you can toggle on and off for pink wards. Maybe you get 2 pink wards to 4 regular wards when you switch the toggle, but you are still permitted one stealth ward per user to be on the map concurrently.

This would buff the item and solve the late game stealth problem. I think giving all users the ability to lay a pink ward makes Khazix Akali Talon Rengar Evelynn MonkeyKing Shaco useless.

None of these champs are incredibly strong either. They are not overplayed or banned often and it would be highly problematic for every user to have a free pink ward trinket in the late game after level 9.

Weathered1 votes

It doesn't make some of those champions useless, but it will surely make it a lot harder and likely lower all their win/play rates

Yeah, in a game where Shaco can get 28 kills effortlessly with no way to defend against or counter him (and Pink Wards, as they are now, are a staggeringly useless gold sink), I'm not sure it's fair to say he's not in a problematic place right now with the nerfs to vision.

RipShesDeadScrub1 votes

no one upgraded the trinkets anyways so they'll still be problematic. Wukong doesn't really need the w invisability it just makes him more slippery and ish harder to trade with in lane. You'll only see rengar coming lol and by the time you see him hes in range to jump you and instaburst you unless you have zhonya ready. Vaynes late game has 0 counterplay without the trinket (don't say "just cc her") cause cc is the counter to every champion in the game except olaf and irelia.
