If you need an easy counter, go Cho'Gath and max W (well, you should max W as Cho anyway). Save your W. If she tries anything aggressive? W her ugly face and then Q her, then slowly walk away while she sits there unable to do anything. If she tries it again? Do the same thing, except add in a R since she'll die from how low she is. Build some health and armor early (RoA into Frozen Heart is nice) and enjoy the free lane.

Riven's early game is actually pretty mediocre at best even when properly aa weaving Garen can literally auto attack riven to death with his high base AD and Q don't even need to use spin until rank 2-3 unless you see her 3rd knock up coming so you do damage while CC'd. Your autos do more DPS than your spin procs early game and quite more than her AA's + skills she can't dash away from initiated autos or Q either. When she tries to CS or get a little aggressive or relatively close use your extended auto range and aa+ Q reset and another AA then walts away if she tries to retaliate afterwards just hit w and keep autoing while back pedaling until q is back up

This fundamental works with Darius too use aa + w auto reset to apply pressure so she is zoned from the CS only use q when you know her e is down or she is obviously going onto you. But Darius is often banned so gl practicing this match up or even using my advice.

same process as the other 2 by using Xin's Q as an AA reset yields a lot of burst while just straight up out damaging riven in general and he is actually way stronger than the previous 2 I've mentioned cause of god tier base damage early game. Your 3rd talon strike cancels out her 3rd knock up hop use this as you wish to abuse the match up greatly.

Olaf just generally steamrolls riven she can't even get close to CS cause of his high innate base damages and permaslow(yes slows actually work on a champion who has a dash and 3 mini hops) unless she wants to lose 60% of her hp if you do like a d-blade start with TP and take a camp for a lvl & 6 pots.

Gangplank is actually fairly alright against riven using kegs as safety nets you can safely CS. If she goes in on you popping a keg for your passive proc and using q as an AA reset its possible to out trade riven fairly well also good sustain and stun cleanse. Can also lvl 2 cheese with TP for huge amounts of staying power.

If I can win with fucking vlad against rivens then you can win with every champion against her. The only problem you will have is when you pick a melee assasin into riven, otherwise she shouldnt be a problem ever.

If you run, you just die tired.

Step 1: Make an armor page. Armor quints, yellows and reds, MR, scaling MR or AP blues.

Step 2: Pick a champ with cc and a shield/sustain.

Step 3: Start cloth and/or lots of sustain

Step 4: Trade strictly around your cooldowns, and against hers. Engage when she uses Q to farm. If she uses her shield/dash to get out of bad trades, re-engage as soon as your cooldowns allow. You lose the auto-attack fight, so use your cooldown, auto while she's cc'd, then back off so if she wants to continue the fight, she has to use cooldowns to do so.

Congrats, you just shut down Riven. No matter what you do, you will be more useful to your team as long as you don't let her roam and kill your mid (she WILL try to do this once she realizes she can't trade with you). I can send you video after video of Riven's fleeing from Sion or Shen with Sunfire Cape. I've even first-blooded several Riven's with Shen in the last month or so.

Run away from the mobile as hell fighter with knockups, a stun, and an execute.

How does running away from her counter her? She'll still catch up to you.

Disconnect and then they can't kill you

Zed will kill all shitty Riven mains

You don't run away from assassins. You either kill them or die.

You counter riven by picking an early game bully like Renekton or Pantheon. When she hits 6 it's all in or nothing you're going to need flash to dodge her ult or save your ass (in case of a retreat lol). Once it hits late game gg, she is going to steamroll you.
