at least you can still play.
The transition to the new client ruined the solution that the Linux community had created to the lack of support from Riot.

Go on this journey with me. Let's say there's a convenience store that opens and decides to make the ceilings six feet tall. It will make building cheaper and, since only some people are taller than six feet, it is a great idea right? The owners of said convenience store get complaints from the people who are taller than six feet, but when they look at their numbers they see that only a small number of people over six feet tall actually shop in their store. They decide to ignore those people because, after all, they aren't spending their money in the store anyway.
Do you see the issue here? Game companies don't release linux-supported games, people who play linux decide to not play their games (replacing them with the rare games like DOTA 2 that support linux) and then people claim "well there aren't that many linux gamers anyway, why would we release linux support?"
Granted, the linux gaming community is still smaller than windows and mac, but I'm pretty sure that releasing your product to as many people as possible is a pretty basic step in marketing.
