What Will happened to Varus

So recently Jhin came out and he reminded me of my main Varus. With the preseason changes and what not I was wondering if riot or anyone was thinking about Varus' state in the game. I feel he sorta is the black lamb of the adc family (except Urgot ). I dont want to say anything too back but i just personally think Varus needs some buffs or some TLC just to stand out like i love his kit i dont think it needs much changing but items with the new stuff i think he is left out in a good build or a good way to play him. I just think he might need some attention from Riot. Tell me what you think remember this my opinion and my bias as a varus main, but Im curious what the community things

Edit: 1 I just feel Jhin overshadows varus

He needs a useful passive, his current passive has no impact in his gameplay, they could remove his passive right now and Varus wouldn't miss it.

the thing is Jhin's w is the main part of him that makes many think he may overshadow Varus. However I personally like Varus's Q much better because: it does far more damage and has better scaling as an ability (although Jhin's massive AD might actually make up for this, unsure), varus can move during his Q, jhin's w has a massive delay (like jinx w) making it hard to land, it has a long cooldown, and varus Q hits multiple champions and can shred an entire team if they are squishy. against skilled opponents jhin should rarely land his w unless the enemy is running straight at him or is already busy doing something. all in all if i really wanted to poke I'd probably pick Varus actually (also just loves varus's ult if you need some teamfight cc but you are adc), where as Jhin is great at fighting from excessive range with his ultimate and occasional w before walking up to execute with strong autos, and lategame will go from 4 shotting a champ to probably 2 shotting similar draven or something.

I don't even build varus AD anymore. I find that he is much more powerful as AP, with sustained damage on par with his AD counter part and burst far, far beyond that.

honestly Jhin looks like too much fun to pass up.

Varus has so much of his power budget in his Q and leaves the rest of his kit kinda bland imo.

Jhin has some great actives and imo why play an immobile adc like varus when his Q is his whole kit pretty much T_T. Theres his ult but like idk.. it just feels very unsatisfying for some reason. It shouldn't but like a 2 second root every 110-70 seconds isnt that appealing.

I mean I like varus.. but why play varus when u can play jhin for sure.

I would love if he actually felt more like a ranged poke champion. Yes he has his Q but that's really it.

... To be fair, Urgot isn't an ADC, or at least, not a bot lane ADC. The only thing ADC about him is he builds AD and has ranged auto attacks, but he doesn't benefit from crit, attack speed, OR life steal, as well as building rather beefy.

But on the subject of Varus, is he really all that bad? I don't personally play him but whenever I do see him he usually does rather well. Great initiation for an ADC, one of the best poke spells in the game, as well as having some pretty hefty burst. I wouldn't mind seeing him a bit modernized but I just don't want to have another Miss Fortune on our hands.

(This ADC needs to perform 5% better than she currently is? Let's slap on a bunch of damage ratios while also improving her itemization!)

Jhin might seem to overshadow Varus in some ways... But he really doesn't have the CC that Varus does and he doesn't have the ability to win a fight solely with Qs from practically off the enemies screen... XD

Varus is my first choice for ADC, he is strong especially after you finish couple of items ( as, ad ) and especially if you get to later in game with nice advantage. Not sure what buff's would be good for him to not make him OP but maybe make that passive more than a tool which helps you take towers faster and make some quick unnoticeable damage in trades early in game. It's mostly that i even forget i have a passive on Varus, sure it ain't useless but it ain't good either.

I feel like i have 4 abilities and small AS boost which is weird because you will build some AS, Runans too in later game ( penta here we come ).

He's a stupidly effective solo-laner given the distance he can poke from. I feel like Keanu Reeves when I'm running train on some idiot Zed midlane--extremely satisfying. There isn't a lot of room for you to get killed provided your positioning is solid and you don't shove your lane like a madman. I don't think he needs a buff or a nerf--just a more functional passive.

If you're gonna play Varus, practice landing Q's at its max range--that means reading the enemy's movement pathing and predicting where theyre gonna go. Another good tip is to step out of their line of vision, charge yor arrow, and step back in so they have less time to react. Finally, don't even put a point in W until Q and E are maxed unless yore up against someone who's quite beefy. Barrier/Cleanse > Ignite since the protection from diving will help you a lot more than a wimpy DoT with meager range.

Always use Heartseeker Varus Skin, and never forget to say 'I am Keanu Reeves' in allchat when you bring them from 100% to 0% HP just by shooting your cancer nukes.
