Jungle used to be my favorite role

And now I've officially given it up out of boredom.

I use to queue adc / jg or jg / adc 95% of games, and now I just hate jungle so much I've started playing mid now.

this isn't a complain post and I don't have any constructive suggestions, I just want to let everyone know how bad this has gotten for me personally.

I really did love jungle because it was a role where if I didn't feel like mechanically outplaying someone from levels 1-6 I didn't have to, and if I didn't want to focus hard on csing, I didn't have to.. but as long as the only viable jungles are graves/khazix/xin/trundle , and my beloved tanks and ap junglers are obsolete, I am stuck learning mid.

One last thing, if the game continues like this, I am very worried because I am already getting mad bored trying to learn other roles when I was really starting to love jungle. I really hope y'all know what you're doing.

I'm in the same boat. Playing mid and top now, never goin back til the jungle is closer to S4/S5.

honestly I stopped playing jungle also. I was an amumu sejuani and zac player and now I just get bullied in every single game. On the bright side support is actually fun because I can still play tanks and be useful

i played mostly jugle and top but this patch sealed the deal and i qued top but man top is so anti fun im now learing how to play adc. i hope 8.11 is fun lol

Yea I'm having a hard time because I can't play Amumu, sejuani or any other tank, except possibly volibear as a fighter because he can heal vs a 1v1 assassin jungler meta.

I hate all roles now, none of them feel like they used to. Mages feel useless now, adc's lane phase is annoying, top can't carry the same way it used to, supports are still supports but their shields are stronger than ever.

I gave up on the jungle. Although I was able to find pathing and camp orders on Shyvana that mitigated the loss of scuttle crabs, or allowed me to go even (at least at low elo where it matters less), I eventually realized it was pointless - because even if I was keeping pace with the enemy jungler, I either wasn't keeping pace with my lanes or it was taking too long for me to come online. The game was decided long before I could really start throwing my weight around, so I had to work doublely as hard to carry my team out of their situation. I just realized it wasn't worth all the effort of trying to force jungle to work when I could just go back to top splitpushing or mid roaming strategies, and play as though the enemy jungler was irrelevent (although at high elo jungle isn't irrelevant. At low elo they can be just because they don't do a lot of counter jungling to abuse early advantages, and then they are just underleveled compared with the laners).

Nerfing experience gain would have been bad enough, but the scuttle changes have narrowed viable junglers down to a few level 2 duelists with good early clears.

I don't like playing champions that depend on getting early ganks to snowball leads. I don't like it in lane. I never liked junglers that depended on it either. I prefer scaling and macro champions. But they are no longer viable in the jungle. So I just play them top lane and have much better success because jungle is too low impact to stop me.

On a more serious note, I feel your pain.

The only positive I can take from this is that I am never filled when jg is my primary because no one wants it. And players are just as likely to be filled jg as they are to be filled support nowadays if not moreso!

GJ, Riot! You turned jungle into a sinking ship. Leaving those of us who do or did it one of two options. Stand behind the wheel and try minimizing the damage OR jump ship altogether.

I agree with you. I've been here since S3/S4 and I have stopped playing the game recently due to the JG changes.

I started playing overwatch and legitimately feel like I'm contributing my energy toward something enjoyable and rewarding. This game just doesn't feel rewarding or fun with how much energy and time is required to play one game.

Yeah I don't play jungle anymore either. Feelsbad but that's how it is. Playing mid/adc now. Maybe they'll revert some changes next season and I'll get back to it but I doubt.

But..that's what separates a good jungler from a great jungler. How the hell do you expect to win against the enemy jungler then?

Same for me but if I have to go jungle then I have no choice but to pick a power farming champion like Shyvana or Yi. (that's if im the mood after this stupid jungle nerf bullshit.)

Lee is still a good pick, I don't know about Diana for ap picks.

Personally I detest having to play as Yi or Shyvana all the time instead of any other jungler or off meta jungler.

I just refuse to play jungle anymore and tell my team mates "Go complain to riot because I'm quitting jungle.".

I don't do this in ranked btw I just do a few days of rank each season, get gold as support/jungle/top then never touch ranked again. Though in ranked I only take top or jungle if and only if my team mate wants to trade because they are premade with their ADC or they just don't like the match up.

And an extra reason I'm refusing to play jungle is not intentionally to grief my team mates, it's intention to get my own back at riot for nerfing a role that already struggles enough to get ahead. Heck as a support main I've ended games with a higher level than my jungler.

A couple of quick thoughts in reply:

In terms of jungler balance, it improved this patch, and I think will improve in the future.

In terms of being able to afk farm, yes, jungle has gotten more interactive (with skuttle changes, etc), and I don't think it's going back. I like the new way better, but I guess we differ in that.

In terms of mechanical outplay -- this game is slowly transitioning from more of a strategy game to more of a fighting game (less "stat check", less pre-game decision with rework of runes/masteries), which is not a direction I like (I like the strategy portion), but unforunately I don't see it reversing though I hope.

I think the jungle changes need to just be around a little longer for people to develop different strategies, but getting rid of champion diversity I don't think is EVER a good decision …...

I used to love to play Vi and WW jungle. Now, since jungle took a swan dive into what seems like an endless pit of despair, I never play WW anymore. However, if you feel like busting out a tank jungler again, go top! I play Vi up there all the time now, and it's pretty good most games.

If they were capitating to the laners for jungle changes all they had to do to make junglers and laners equal level with past routes (buff camp buff) is to increase the experience of the first few waves of laner's minions.

They can change the gold and hp of the lane minions and obviously from the 8.11 notes they can change each spawn (to level experience variance) of jungle camps experience so all they had to do to keep diversity and Fairness to laners/jungler alike is change the laner's first waves experience instead of

Creating Scuttle crab rift when Summoner's Rift was fine minus a few tweaks such as weak towers etc,

Having Jungler's fall behind support in level at any point in the game (single player vs duo lane)

Killing diversity (see scuttle and having the heartache of trying to balance the underperforming junglers now (AP, tanks, etc some who were in bad shape beforehand).

Having some laners think their lane is an island (i.e Jungle shouldn't ever gank them or be able to gank them if they are out of position, over aggressive etc) .

I could go on but, instead of making such a small change to balance it all out or admit they are/were wrong we get the following,

The action around Scuttle Crab is making for a good mini-objective, but it's currently up too often, forcing too much of a jungler's attention onto its continuous respawn.

If you want to keep the jungle experience changes, fine but remove the scuttle and bring diversity back to jungle OR promote the ones who thought up the idea and went along with said idea to Head of Floor maintenance and Lunch/Coffee retrieval.

Same for me. As you can see my name is Xinisied but I just hate the way jungle is now (Even though I dominate with Xin and loved him before he even became meta, I hate the scuttle focused meta).

I think it would've been fine that they prioritized scuttle, but making it spawn on a random side after the first two doesn't feel right. I just don't think RNG is good for the game.

The changes to scuttle are basically forcing a control jungler meta. Control metas are absolutely unforgiving for anyone not playing either an early bully/duelist like Graves, Xin, or Udyr, or champs that have god tier clear and objective control like Trundle, Nidalee, or nunu. I personally like control metas, but they force out anyone not willing to conform as they are designed to be punishing enemies that cant contest even minor objectives. The only way you win against these type of champions in control metas is if they eat rocks. Malphite

I mean, you still need to outplay and outcs the enemy jungler, even from level 1. Why do you believe that jungle doesn't act as a lane in terms of pressure, and "outlaning" / winning your "lane"?

I’ve gotten used to the jungle changes. They honestly aren’t as bad as I thought they were. Next patch will be even better with the duelist nerfs, XP buffs and skuttle nerf.

Just adapt.

I jungked alot and now I have transtioned to top. I like the jungle changes I truly do but I play agaisnt the same 3 junglers every game and it simply isn't fun.

Same here.once I saw these jg changes, I've taken to maining Talon . When I did, I realized he was busted af because of a bugfix. I still need toearn Akali as my backup for if he's picked/banned
