Anyone else happy that Rakan exists?

We finally get a support that not only looks flashy, but has a ton of expression of skill. It's pretty neat that Riot actually took the time to make a flashy support, which a lot of people actually wanted.Rakan

It's actually pretty non skilled. The only projectile he throw have 0 impact on his combo.

It uses more skill than Leona for example, but it's not like a Lee sin or Something.

so just like lee sin he only has to aim 1 skillshot, no wait lee sin doesn't have to aim any because ward > W

I am basically simply waiting for all the people to explain how his takes no skill to use and then laugh at them when they try to explain how lee sin or fizz who have similar moves are high skill champions.

If you think that you can throw yourself into their team without thinking if it was the right moment to do so then you don't know how much skill is needed for Rakan.

**In general, every champion in League of Legends takes a fair amount of skill to learn and master, period. Anyone who tells you differently is inexperienced. **

Simple vs Complex is a fair argument to make, and you certainly learn different areas of the game with different champions, but There is NO champion that is truly braindead or easy-mode, despite what anyone will tell you, and that's because game knowledge is king. It's not really about who your playing, its about how much you know.

I like that we have a fancy support that can show-off now! He doesn't have to be extremely skill-heavy, but when you get to the point of mastery with him it will be more obvious than it is for a lot of champions.

Looking at you, Taric Morgana Janna you boring bot-laners.

Isn't Thresh a flashy support with a good amount of skill expression?

HudnofskiBleh1 votes

True, but that's still only one. I like how that's changed.

there is no skill expression or whatsoever

Pretty much this. I think Rakan's E is extremely strong in combination with his W and R, but that's fine since he's not really tanky at all.

escuse me? his base stats say the opposite considering his kit is an enchenter with AOE cc

Rakan is generally not tanky until late game, and his stats are so high because he's a support so getting levels is not easy.

I think Rakan is proof that mobility can be just as valuable on a support as it is on, say, an assassin or a marksman. There are so many moments where, as a support, I would've loved to reposition to an ally or enemy to apply shielding, lockdown, peel, healing, etc., yet the only supports available until now are either slow, ranged casters (and Soraka's innate doesn't really do the best job of letting her reposition in a bursty environment), or tanks who may be really good at being in the front or the back, but who aren't really good at shifting from one to the other.

Playing a tank also puts the expectation on you to take the brunt of the enemy team's damage and focus, which isn't something I always want to do as a support. Rakan is definitely not a tank, and he has the tools to not only be effective around allies or enemies, but also to quickly move from one to the other, which makes all the difference. He's a support with tremendous amounts of agency, and while he still relies on allies to be effective, he doesn't feel like a sitting duck when alone. This is a tremendous step forward in making supports more interesting as a class, and I'd like to see some older supports trade off excessively "safe" protection tools in exchange for sharper movement (Janna could be a great candidate for this).

This works the same as every other movement spell. The same circle jerk came out when it was popular on riven due to a big making it easier to pull off. But every movement spell in the game can "cancel" displacement due to priority.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Only every "blink" type of effect, not dashes. Riven doesn't have a blink, she really shouldn't be able to do it. Same w/ Rakan.

sept that everyone with a dash has been doing it since I started playing in season 1. its just very dificult to do and as such people dont do it on purpose it simply happends on accident.

Both of them are well designed, really cool thematically, pretty well balanced... Honestly Rito nailed the bajeezus out of this one.

Instabought and having a lot of fun with him (when I can play him >_<)

I agree with you but I don't think we should be mixing expression of skill with increased mobility. He doesn't take any more skill to play than let's say a Leona, if anything he is safer and takes less skill but is miles more fun to play.

I was just thinking that we didn't have enough cancer shield supports in the game, so I'm really glad Rakan showed up.

I hate mobility, so no.
