@Reav3 in response to your comments on Urgot
Urgot…where do I even start with Urgot. Many Rioters have had their spirits broken trying to make sense of Urgot’s kit. Urgot is like the poster child of champions with confused thematics, kit, visuals, and narrative. He’s a ranged character with a knife-hand, he’s a Marksman that’s also kind of a tank, that swaps himself INTO the enemy team. He’s Noxian but he looks like he’s from Zaun. There’s A LOT of stuff going on with Urgot that have made him a very difficult champion to rework, but we are happy to announce that we finally have a solid direction for Urgot that we want to go into production with. Getting there will require breaking down all of Urgot’s competing directions, throwing some out and keeping others, then building him up again as a more cohesive and understandable package. From a design/kit perspective Urgot needs a lot of work to create a cohesive package. From an art perspective, we think that Urgot has something cool going on already, a terrifying mixture of flesh and machine that has traded his humanity for power. The current execution leaves a lot to be desired, though, so he will be getting a visual overhaul to go along with his shiny new kit. We also want to improve his narrative to match the new world our Worldbuilding team has been building up over the last couple years. At last, the Urgod’s time has come. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Hello. I may not be an Urgot one trick, but I certainly play (and enjoy) the champion quite a bit.
So i'm just gonna throw in my two cents about all this.
First, the knife hand on a ranged champion, and what it stands for. His duality as a bruiser/marksman hybrid without being a transform champion is important. So, how about you do something with his basic attacks like you did with Talon Q? If the target is within 425 units (or whatever you decide his attack range should be) he attacks normally as a ranged champion. If the target is within 125 units, he attacks as a melee for extra effects (Something along the lines of "Deal 10% extra damage and cause them to deal 10% less to you").
Urgot isn't a tank. Urgot players aren't looking to play a ranged, physical Maokai. He is a combination of physical artillery and a bruiser playstyle.
Next, lore and look. He is noxian, but looks like he is kept alive by Zaun tech. Sure, this can be salvaged. "Urgot (in his warrior days) is leading his unit of soldiers in a march towards Demacia. While he is passing the outskirts of Piltover, the Demacian army ambushes Urgot. Outnumbered five to one, Urgot is forced to retreat. Most of the soldiers escaped, but not Urgot. The grunts recognised the Noxian warrior as a famous war criminal, and dragged him gleefully to their leader, Garen. The Might of Demacia proceeded to list off the numerous attrocities commited by Urgot before executing him, kicking the corpse off of the bride on which they stood, watching it fall into the depths to rot in the deepest, darkest part of Zaun. This did not go unnoticed, and it wasn't long before the body of the once great general ended up on the Table of the Mad Chemist."
As far as throwing out elements, go ahead. There is a reason why Urgot sucks ass. Just keep in mind that there are some things that you shouldn't touch. His ultimate is one of the best designed spells in the game; the addition of the fear just made it even cooler. Swapping an ADC into your team while fearing half the enemy team is easily one of the best feelings in the game. His W is well designed. It's simple, but not everything needs to be complicated. A shield with a powerful slow attached to it. His E needs to be changed significantly, and his Q by extension. His passive needs to be something different (if you can come up with something better, that what I did, good!).
