Making Poppy Viable
I've been a huge fan of Poppy for quite a few years. Unfortunately I kept her play only to 3v3's since her 5v5's is completely trash. I've started to invest in rune pages costing upwards of 15,000 IP to even attempt in making it through laning phase, but I have a request. I do not wish for a total rework of poppy, her kit is signature to the champion. Changing the entire kit would ruin the concept of her, and that's something I'd like to avoid. Here is my breakdown of her, and what I would like to fix. Numbers and specifics are subject to change, I'd just like to put this out there and see how many people would like it, get feedback, and hopefully get Riot to fix my lovely Popsters.
Passive: No change needed. This and her ult make Poppy who she is.
Q: Reduced mana cost only slightly. Her EQ combo is her best chance for trading, but after only a couple you're left "oom".
W: Take this out completely
NEW W: Passive: Gain X health and mana regen (or just health regen) for Y seconds whenever hit by an enemy spell.
Active: For X seconds, hitting Poppy with a spell will slow you by 50% (subject to change of course) for Y seconds.
E: Reduce mana cost. Why does this thing cost like 1/4 mana pool when it's your only trading tool?
R: No change, this is the Poppy spell. You take this out she's not Poppy anymore.
I was trying to come up with other, basic ideas for her W, which include some of the following: Ranged slow/poke AoE cc returning % of spell damage, like a magic thornmail
What are your thoughts? I understand because she's very strong late game and therefore her laning should be hard, but at her current state she is not lane-able. The new W will allow her some extra sustain against those pesky AP's and ADC tops, along with some potential counterplay allowing her to capitalize on poorly-timed harass with a little bit of speed advantage. Her EQ mana cost should be dropped a little. With even getting into range to trade being so difficult, it makes little sense to make 2 spells cost so much of her mana pool, also her current W adds a lot to that cost and is ridiculous. She needs mana sustain to trade, and can only trade when the enemy makes a mistake and harasses at a bad time. Open to suggestions. I'd like to improve upon this idea and/or give it to Rito so they can make the best of it.
