Making Poppy Viable

I've been a huge fan of Poppy for quite a few years. Unfortunately I kept her play only to 3v3's since her 5v5's is completely trash. I've started to invest in rune pages costing upwards of 15,000 IP to even attempt in making it through laning phase, but I have a request. I do not wish for a total rework of poppy, her kit is signature to the champion. Changing the entire kit would ruin the concept of her, and that's something I'd like to avoid. Here is my breakdown of her, and what I would like to fix. Numbers and specifics are subject to change, I'd just like to put this out there and see how many people would like it, get feedback, and hopefully get Riot to fix my lovely Popsters.

Passive: No change needed. This and her ult make Poppy who she is.

Q: Reduced mana cost only slightly. Her EQ combo is her best chance for trading, but after only a couple you're left "oom".

W: Take this out completely

NEW W: Passive: Gain X health and mana regen (or just health regen) for Y seconds whenever hit by an enemy spell.

Active: For X seconds, hitting Poppy with a spell will slow you by 50% (subject to change of course) for Y seconds.

E: Reduce mana cost. Why does this thing cost like 1/4 mana pool when it's your only trading tool?

R: No change, this is the Poppy spell. You take this out she's not Poppy anymore.

I was trying to come up with other, basic ideas for her W, which include some of the following: Ranged slow/poke AoE cc returning % of spell damage, like a magic thornmail

What are your thoughts? I understand because she's very strong late game and therefore her laning should be hard, but at her current state she is not lane-able. The new W will allow her some extra sustain against those pesky AP's and ADC tops, along with some potential counterplay allowing her to capitalize on poorly-timed harass with a little bit of speed advantage. Her EQ mana cost should be dropped a little. With even getting into range to trade being so difficult, it makes little sense to make 2 spells cost so much of her mana pool, also her current W adds a lot to that cost and is ridiculous. She needs mana sustain to trade, and can only trade when the enemy makes a mistake and harasses at a bad time. Open to suggestions. I'd like to improve upon this idea and/or give it to Rito so they can make the best of it.

I figure I should probably inform you that Poppy will be losing her ult and will probably be losing her passive in the future. She's getting a rework.

Oh, and Poppy will never get a buff before then. It's Riot policy I believe.

except from what i recall riot doesnt want poppy viable due to how broken her kit is

I used to play poppy a lot, but I stopped because her early game is really bad. I like the idea of making w an anti spell ability. It would make her a good counter pick to champs like vlad or rumble. The slow would also be really good on that because it would allow her to turn around and chase down her enemy. Her ultimate though, I think it would be healthier to the game if this was changed from Poppy being immune to other enemies to her taking extremely reduced damage from anyone other than her target. This nerf would open up room for another buff, like maybe giving her a speed boost during the ult, or passively give her a speed boost after a kill. That would help her go in, kill, and get out. Because her w wouldn't give her a speed boost anymore, I think that she needs some way for escape.

She is pretty viable, but you need a team around her. I have a diamond friend who got there by maining Poppy. You need a team kind of built around you and coordination with your teammates.

She's been on the rework list for a while now, and with GP and MF's rework almost finished, we'll be seeing a lot about it soon.

The reason people even consider playing Poppy is for her ult and passive, and they're removing that. She's not played as often in games because her abilities cost so much mana, she has terrible wave clear, and her laning phase in general just leaves a lot to be desired. She is viable, but so many games do not last long enough for her to be effective. If she's able to buy Trinity Force and boots without being shut down, then she becomes unstoppable and everyone will be running away from her asking themselves why they don't encounter her more often. However she's so prone to being bullied and zoned hard that getting there is one of the most difficult things. It also doesn't help that her core items are very expensive when farming is a pain.
