Yasuo Hate: Justified or Just 'Bad'

I'm a Yasuo main. I will try to keep a level head with my arguments. Let's check out all of these main 'yasuo OP bro pls nerf' threads and see their arguments.

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/2glUrVgA-can-yall-nerf-yasuos-3rd-q-not-the-damage-or-anything

"But how long he can hold onto it. He can just zone for the whole duration of holding onto it. Just the threat of getting hit with it or the E+Q knock-up combo is annoying. Since hes such a fast paced champion, I think he should be punished for not using it within a reasonable time-frame. I just can't even with all these Yasuos every game. o"

  • When he doesn't have his 3rd q, you go in, trade, and force him back. When he gets his 3rd q, you in turn have to be forced back. It's just laning.
  • "Just the threat of getting hit with it or the E+Q knock-up combo is annoying" Not an argument. A lot of things are annoying in this game.
  • "Since hes such a fast paced champion" Fast-paced? What? He has high mobility... but, fast paced? Have you seen Zed? Leblanc?

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/yRBFR1fZ-a-yasuo-change-that-not-only-makes-sense-but-also-is-rather-fair-to-the-champion

"Make his E damage physical. Don't nerf the damage, just make the damage physical damage. Why? You may ask. My reasoning behind it is this: Most people have a full set of Flat Armor Runes. You know, the ones that give you 9 flat armor at the beginning of a game when you have all of them? Those actually do a LOT of work early game. Yasuo currently Maxes E first, as the base magic damage is high, and essentially makes him a mixed damage monster. By making this change, itemizing only ARMOR early game negates a good amount of burst, especially from the surprise magic damage his E has. This will make him easier to itemize against, and will make the cheapest runes in the shop negate a good amount of damage from all spells. I mean, it also makes since from a thematic perspective, right? Why does a guy dashing around like that deal MAGIC damage. Makes no sense. Also, this will reward better Yasuo players instead of crappy noob ones, as people who land the Ultimate as Yasuo will have the Armor Pen from his ult passive, which will increase the damage his E would do. Just my Two Cents to the Yasuo discussion."

  • There is a reason Yasuo is a 10/10 difficulty. It's because of mechanics like these. If you know your enemy is stacking armor (which is a death sentence to Yasuo, if you're a bruiser and are losing badly to him with armor rush, something isn't right on your part) you know you must rely on your e to do damage. And with that the timing and decisions to dash to minions and the such comes in, to max the damage on your e, and to the enemy champion.
  • "Why does a guy dashing around like that deal MAGIC damage. Makes no sense." Hahahaha. Well did you know a woman who throws knives at people all day does magic damage? Say hello to Katarina. It's because he isn't using his sword, he is using the power of the wind to dash, which is pretty magical to me.
  • "Also, this will reward better Yasuo players instead of crappy noob ones, as people who land the Ultimate as Yasuo will have the Armor Pen from his ult passive, which will increase the damage his E would do." Landing Yasuo ultimate is not hard. Dashing and dodging to max e damage is significantly harder than landing an ultimate.

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/enIsBUBF-meddler-you-said-you-would-keep-an-eye-on-yasuo-where-are-nerfs

"months ago you said you would keep an eye on him or something if he became too strong which is exactly what happened. can we just turn him into an actual fighter and limit some one his abilities or stats?"

http://imgur.com/a/Np54r

  • He's not too strong. You just don't know how to play against him. End of story.

I feel like a lot of Bronze - Golds are getting salty because they don't know how to COUNTER-PLAY. They just see Yasuo and automatically forfeit the game instead of actually thinking about how they can win. (Hint: it's not that hard)

This thread sort of turned into a rant. I just cannot fathom how many people who don't know Yasuo mechanics are trying to provide input into changing him, it just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe they need to check out this post: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/jLGvQ3Wk-before-you-make-a-post-about-balance

That's all.

The problem with yasuo is that he does a lot of damage and while being tanky with a ranged knock up that hits multuple targets on a relatively low CD.

And more importantly he has a lot more outplay potential in his kits than half the other champions in his kit.

He has more options than most champs. If they gutted poppy because of what she was in top lane then I can only imagine they would nerf him as well.

The thing is, the problem about Yasuo is a bruiser ("tank") build that's been problematic for at least a year and is being constantly recycled for various champions.

Listen. If countless people are making threads about the same champion its because they find that champion fucking annoying.

You know why we dont see posts about urgot being broken? Because hes not and hes not annoying to fight?

You know why we dont see posts about vel koz being broken ? Because hes not and hes not annoying to fight.

It doesnt matter if yasuo is strong or weak with a 5% win rate. The bottom line stands, A majority of people find him fucking annoying to fight.

I for one hate listening to ''HASAKIII'' every 3 seconds and you know why? Everytime i jungle for a yasuo they always bitch when they die. They write an autobiography as to why they died and somehow it translates to the junglers fault.

I dont care for yasuo players, But a majority of you guys are toxic as fuck. I mean look what you wrote in your post

''i think most of the players that hate yasuo are bronze to silver players who get salty ''

ok wait. So someone making a post about a champion = them automatically salty?

Ok so if thats the case then you are just as fucking salty if you had to make a counter post.

For me, Yasuo is not hard to beat. However, even though I have a usual success rate against him, there are a couple of things about his general kit that can make him really abusive and I can see why they'd be nerfing him.

Q-hold. He can hold it for about 10 seconds I believe, which is a massive zoning time. In those 10 seconds, you must stay away not only from his direct Q range but also any dashable targets so that he cannot get to you within a couple of seconds. This requires most champions to give up CS, should Yasuo will it.

Now yes, one can go hard when his Q is down, per se. However, re-acquisition of the tornado as well as range of cast is too dangerous to simply go in. The time it takes for him to get the Q's stacked back up is rather quick, and you have to take into account that once the second Q is hit, where you are in relation to where he is. If you're back in that threat area of cast range+dash range, you might not have much you can do besides try and dodge it.

So unless you have a whole kit you can unload and kill him with once 3rd Q is cast, Yasuo actually doesn't have many windows of opportunity to strike at him. He can cover a couple of these windows with putting up a windwall to block many, many spells. Now take into account his flash that can be used once in a while to cover up his windows, as well as the scenario and how many dashable targets are present, which in lane, there usually are, it's actually not so easy to find clear windows of weakness.

Now, I'm not calling him OP. I personally typically shit on Yasuo, however I can see how people find him to be oppressive. Riot is looking at tankier builds, which is fair. Yasuo isn't meant to be a tank, and he shouldn't be played as one. His kit has found a synergy with a tankier build while still dealing great consistent damage. At least with the intended Yasuo playstyle, you could blow him up which is fair. But having someone annihilate your backline and shred tanks while building predominantly tankier items is a little silly.

Bruiser yasuo needs to be changed, standard yasuo crit build is fine since he's totally balanced around it. He's not, however, nor has he been balanced around a bruiser build. It's actually pretty silly what he's capable of doing with a bruiser build.

Naag One2 votes

he does nothing that any other fighter/bruiser can't do building the same bruiser build. bruiser build has no crit so its just standard AA and little more survivability given by bruiser items.

Statistically, the only problem about him are his toplane stats. 52.18% winrate with a 10.95% playrate is too high. That is because of his bruiser build, which seems to be too strong. His crit build is still balanced.

Meddler confirmed that he is going to receive some adjustments, probably because his winrate is constantly going up during the last patches.

???????????

If that's too high, then a whole BUNCH of other champs need nerfs immediately.

Michael Sykes1 votes

yes, you are right, and I recommend to use the stats from champion.gg when they are available. They include all regions, some champions are way stronger in NA than in EUW.

Meddler was only talking about the bruiser build, so they are going to look at possibilities how to change it. Additionally, it is not coming before 6.19

Some of the hate is unjustified, but Yasuo is just an annoying champion to face. That being said I'd rather face a Yasuo over Zed or LB any fucking day of the week.

I agree, I don't think yasuo is an issue. Personally I don't have a problem fighting him, and I enjoy playing him. I can understand people dislike playing against him when they play champs that are countered by him, but that doesn't make him broken. Though I have heard abiut I haven't had to deal with but supposedly tank yasuo is becoming a thing and I could understand not wanted that in our games (tankko anyone?). But from the point of ad yasuo, his usual builds, I don't think his broken or really that OP, strong but not OP.

1 if you disagree that he doesnt need nerf on his unnecesarily high base dmg on his E. Youre BRONZE 2 if you disagree that his window to cast tornado doesnt need to be reduced by 5 secs. Youre BRONZE 3 if you disagree that his E cast at level 5 should remain 0.5 sec. Youre BRONZE

and btw all of these things will just remove a little portion of his overloadedness and wont "GUT" him.. it will just balance him

If you make arguments as bad as these you're SILVER.

Hahahahahaha.

and of course as a typical biased yasuo main abuser you would completely ignore the fact that his E base dmg is legit way way too damn high the fact that you deny this makes me question if you care about balance i think you just want your yasuo to not get any nerfs at at all cost even if u know hes overloaded people like you should be banned for trying to mislead riot when they trying to balance crabby champions like yasuo

Or perhaps salty one, I was just making fun of your disgusting approach to making an argument.

You argue like that, make gross generalizations, and don't even make a contribution to the thread, and expect me to be banned.

Absolutely hysterical.

Yasuo is a strange character, he cand estroy or be destroyed by any champion, it really all depends on the game, teamcomp and skill level.

You know what are my picks against a Yasuo (mid)? AurelionSol and Xerath, they both have their only hard CC countered by Wind Wall and yet I can playa round it fairly while also keeping track of what yasuo does (Because I KNOW WHAT HE DOES AND DOES NOT).

Ppl don't want to elarn games anymore, they want to learn the control, read the names of items to collect and want to easily stomp like that.

Vile Yasuo main

Yasuo is overpowered atm, regardless of silver/bronzies crying or not.

Top lane bruiser yasuo is very overpowered in high elo actually, he can beat like 90%+ of the top lane matchups and snowball into a unkillable hyper mobility bruiser that you cant duel against.

ZapMyHeart1 votes

I've never understood how people can continually say that "Yasuo is super difficult". Please. He has a high playrate with a high winrate. Most people in the game aren't this good at the game. Azir is considered "broken", but his average win rate is sitting at 40 something percent.

His kit isn't as hard as what people make him out to be, especially when champion gg indicates a 50% winrate after playing 15 games.
