It is a target spell.

Why the fuck can it miss?

It's not a targeted spell. It's a very short range skillshot that requires an enemy in range.

It's not a skillshot or a target. It's automatic.

It can miss because Riot has no idea what they're doing with Eve but they know they like to nerf things they don't understand, so here we are. ~Uiru

Devi, if it were a skillshot, I would not have a problem. However, for it to be a skillshot, the player must be able to input what it hits. The player cannot input what it hits, it just throws itself at the closest dude. Its a skillshot like lucian q, exept his q is long range, nearly instant, you can choose the target, and most importantly: you cant dodge lucian q by walking directly away from lucian as he casts the spell.

It behaves like a "dumb" version of Fox-Fire. It locks-on the ground instead of champions.

I'm not saying it's working great. Just pointing out that it's not a point and click.

while that may be true, I think the real question here is: Why does it miss in the first place? it's not like it has to miss to have "counter play" at this point because it doesn't give a speed buff any more and the best "counter play" for eve is either to kill her or run, and running is super easy now.

That's not quite true. It's auto-target, so "skillshot" is definitely the wrong term.

"Ground targeted lock-on spell" sounds like a mouthful. Or is it "Auto-targeted ground effect" spell?

It's a smartcast, auto-targeting skillshot. Like literally every other pass-through skillshot in the game, it can miss. If it were a targeted ability, it would effect the target and only the target. As that it does not, it clearly is not a targeted ability.

"Skillshot" doesn't just mean "You activate it and then point it in a direction." There are loads of atypical skillshots in the game. Requiring that a player manually aim an ability with a 1 second cooldown would make it even more of a nightmare to hit with than it already is.

Not saying that it should need aiming. It just needs its missile speed nudged back up so that you cant walk away from it.

It's not a projectile in the traditional sense yet Windwall still blocks it.
