Please Stop Forfeiting in Ranked

Forfeiting in Norms or any other game mode is fine, nothing is on the line, those game modes are for laid back fun anyways. But when I'm going through my promos and my team decides "they wiped us 20 minutes in, so it's a loss" then forfeit... That shit tilts me. Even if the enemy team is wiping us, it's still RANKED, you give it your all till the end. I've had some amazing comebacks more than a few times in my games. In fact, I think almost every game I have one person who loses lane and gets tilted. Even then you try to keep a positive attitude and give it your all and you might be surprised by the results. But you never FF in Ranked. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

Never?

No. Not Never.

There is nothing wrong with giving up on a game that is obviously lost, and that's where people need to learn to tell the difference between a hopeless game, and one that is still very much able to be won.

If the enemy team is pushing your base, and they have baron / Elder dragon, and Let's say, for example, Your support Janna is the only one up for 30 seconds, that's an acceptable time to pop a surrender vote and end it just a little bit sooner.

When 3 out of 5 of you die trying to stop a Baron, and the enemy has to go back before that final push, then No, You shouldn't surrender.

I get what your saying, I'm the same way. I hate when people just give up in ranked, especially after a fight goes badly for you, and they just start saying gg and trying to surrender every chance they get despite that the game is close.

But the thing that's more annoying than someone who gives up and wants to surrender every chance they get, in my opinion, is somebody who doesn't know when it's time. I'd rather not drag out something that could've been a 30 minute game while they were ahead by 25 kills for another 30 minutes and 25 more kills to my teams 5 in that time.

I guess what I really mean, is there is a time and place for that surrender.

If things really are bad, and the enemy team is clobbering your team every fight without your team managing to kill any of them, then yeah, it's probably fair not to drag out that game, even if a comeback could happen.

The reverse of that, is if few fights end badly for your team, you still maybe end up getting One or Two of them, or they need to base before doing something, then Yeah, No, Giving up isn't the answer.

Good point! I suppose even in a 'hopeless' situation I'd still rather drag it out for a chance to win. But that's my positive ass in denial of a loss lol!

That's ridiculous. Why would I stay in a game that I know I'm going to lose when it costs me time that I could spend getting that LP back? People don't have infinite time to spend on this game, if they only have an hour or so left before they have to go in to work or school or sleep, they have every right to want a win under their belt before then.

Also playing while behind is how tilt happens. It's better to just stop playing before you ruin your next three games because you get frustrated watching your character die again and again and again.

One lucky wipe and you could easily rush down a lane and win! It makes good practice to hold out and look at your options in desperate situations. I wouldn't consider a game to be lost unless they're at your nexus. But I hear you, staying in a game thats tilting you can be hard.

But how long does that lucky wipe take to happen? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? 20 minutes? Meanwhile, I'm getting more and more frustrated, making more and more misplays, getting annoyed.

Plus, the people who refuse to surrender also stop playing the game. That's the most annoying part.

You just sit in base, trying to farm up and wait for your inhibitors. You don't contest baron, you don't contest dragon, you give up every buff and don't even get out of base to secure vision.

At that point you aren't playing League. You're waiting for the enemy team to throw, or you're waiting to lose. That's not fun. And that's why people play a video game. For fun. I don't enter into some magical contract to sit there and keep trying when the game stops being fun for me just because I'm playing ranked. My contract involves 1) obeying the 1-1-2 meta, 2) Playing a champion I know I'm good at and 3) Not trolling or afking.

Beyond that, I can do whatever I want because it's a game first. When other players refuse to surrender and keep me in because they want to comeback, but they aren't making any attempts to win (just waiting for the enemy team to throw) they're basically ruining the game for me for no reason.

Granted I'm lower elo but still, throws happen. Had a game where our mid Akali decided to AFK like 5 minutes into the game. Luckily my support was a Brand so we told him to just build AP and it'll be fine. I (Kog'maw) kept getting wiped by the enemy assassin jungler but our Darius and Malphite kept surviving 2v5 for so long that it often didn't matter. The one time when I didn't get instantly murdered we managed to get 4 of them as they were taking our Nexus towers but Soraka survived (I think they got the towers too, so exposed nexus). I ran up mid during their death timers and managed to get their mid tower and inhib and back safely somehow. Bought, placed, and sold a ZZ'rot to help hold the minions off our Nexus and we managed to somehow kill enough of them again to finish and win. It was something like a 50 minute game.

Should we have surrendered, probably. But you also learn to play differently in these types of games. Knowing that you can place a ZZ'rot and sell it while it still produces voidlings is nice to know (one of my teammates didn't know that you could do that). You also learn to play defensively. People are fine being ahead. They know how to go in for kills and how to blow up certain targets. Most don't know how to kite or how to dodge skill shots in a team fight.

Most people also don't realize that a down inhib that you don't take advantage of means free gold funneled into the enemy. Sure, super minions are a pain, but the team with the down inhib had 3 waves of gold, and the other team only has 2 cause the minions will be killed off by the super so that lane always remains pushed. If you don't do something with that pressure, you're just giving gold to the enemy.
