Where am I suppose to practice new champs? (rant)

Obviously I'm not going to practice in a ranked game, Bots is nowhere close to a real game, and you'd think norms would be the ideal place to go to practice new champs. But why is it I'm constantly going up against high elo, high mastery, premade players? Can't you throw premade groups in with other premades?

I have nothing constructive to say when it comes to what I think should be done, this is more just a frustrated rant. Can't you sweatlords just tryhard in a ranked game or something? Do you also walk into a pre-school and arm wrestle the kids there? What are you even trying to prove this game lol. This really deters me from wanting to learn anything new in the game.

You practice in normal games. Winning and losing doesn’t really matter in norms, and you should treat it as the game mode to better yourself.

This is one of the features I miss about teambuilder. It would match you into other people who were new to their champs so you got time to learn your champion.

Normals. Yes you're getting dumpstered, and yes it sucks, but it's the best place to do that. Getting roasted doesn't mean you aren't learning. Furthermore if people go into Norms to pwn newbs then that's their problem. You aren't responsible for their fragile egos, small genitals, or lack of social skills.

You also have to remember that Riot is trapped between a rock and a hard place. Specifically a total lack of thoughtful nuance, and the ego-centrism of not every being able to admit a mistake or take an idea from the community. So you're never getting anything more than normals. How could you not like that? They thought of it.

Maybe try do a custom with people and have each person on your team that wants to try the new champ out rotate per game? This would be harder to coordinate but it might get the job done.

Yes some of us are lvl 7 at champs and still play them in normals. Are we not allowed to? do I REALLY have to play ranked? I don't get to fuck around in ranked and it's honestly quite a frustrating mode.

As for the elo that's because of normals mmr. Loads of people only play ranked so they have low normal mmr and end up in your games.

Can't you sweatlords just tryhard in a ranked game or something?

Or you could realize how dumb the term tryhard is. Yes we're trying to win, should we be trying to lose? Even when 1st timing i play to win, which you should too. Think about it, you get to play against people on their main like they probably would in ranked. If you can beat them you're gucci.

I'm sorry if you thought we'd go easy on you. Yes we play Normals, we want to win, we want to play our favourite champs and we do take the game seriously. We just don't want the whole pressure of ranked.

At some point you also get a feel for who's plat and who isn't. not based on how they're playing tho, no that's not how you'll notice.

Ma guy stay away from aram tho, i've been matched with masters players over there.

@thread Why cant you first time in bots to get the bare basics down, and then go into normals? Some champions have a primary learning curve like Vlad and Aurelion sol that take a few games to get down, but are otherwise basic skills.

I can tell you from experience i get salty when someone FIRST TIMES EZREAL and misses 80% of CS until they finish their tear item; Going into bots or even the practice tool and just... Practicing CSing and using your abilities properly helps tremendously. I generally practice in the practice tool on PBE when a new champ comes out.

My personal opinion is to practice combos and learning the kit in general in bots/customs, while learning how to play against other champions and building for different situations in norms. You may not be willing to spend the time in a custom, but if you at least get the hang of their kit and learn how to execute different combos, it will greatly aid you when you go up against real players. (For example, I brought Syndra recently and am practicing on learning her legendary 7-sphere ult in customs. I am nowhere near perfection, but I'm sure I will do it properly given enough time and practice.) [sg-syndra]

As for getting matched against high elo players...I agree that the mmr system sucks in general and you have every right to be frustrated. [sg-soraka] [sg-zephyr]

I struggle with the same thing, like how are you supposed to get used to character if the game gets thrown or bad start ect
