Please stop complaining about Dynamic Queue
unless you are in diamond 1, master tier, or challenger.
There has always been this issue throughout human history -- blindly following authority. We've seen it in political elections, news bias, and now, League of Legends. You all need to understand, that when all of these pros band up to address dynamic queue as a gamebreaking issue, 99% of them are referring strictly to their own situation (in the aforementioned ELOs), which corrupts HIGH-LEVEL COMPETITIVE PLAY. I'll get more on to this in a bit. Despite a drastic increase in the quality of education over the last couple decades, some people are still going to fall for the fallacy of confirmation bias -- don't let that be you. Anywho, here are the main arguments against dynamic queue propogated by your average, mid ELO player:
I HAVE NO FRIENDS, SO I AM ALREADY AT A DISADVANTAGE This, for the most part, is entirely false. First off if you want people to play with, theres a great resource called team recruitment. However, if you are entirely dedicated to playing it solo, understand that in most ELOs, 2/3/4/5 man queues are segregated very neatly. Almost 100% of the time, a 5 man will play against another 5 man, a 4 man will play against another 4 man, etc. Even if you, by yourself, are playing against a 4 man, chances are you are playing with one aswell. As a platinum 1 player whos played a lot of dynamic queue in 5 mans, as well as by myself, I can tell you that I have not noticed games get any easier in 5 mans. Infact, i'd say they got SIGNIFICANTLY harder, because the enemy team is usually extremely coordinated just like ours is, and its very hard to find their 'achilles heel' under such a circumstance.
GREAT, NOW EVERY PLAYER IS GOING TO GET BOOSTED I still can't believe anyone argues this, as its been a thing ever since league of legends was conceptualized. First off, its not exactly easier to boost/ carry some noob to a high elo, because if you want to do it in a 5 man, you need 4 people who are willing to commit to this, which means more people would need to get paid. You'd also need all 4 of these people to be on at the same time. I actually believe it is significantly slower. The thing with boosting is that, as long as its possible for one person to be able to log on another person's account, it will never not be an issue. Even if the booster is going in entirely solo, they will win 9 times out of 10. And i'm assuming that this new soloqueue would include duo queue, which still makes it easy for people to carry other people to a certain ELO.
BUT WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO GET CARRIED BY THEIR FRIENDS This is a bit of a continuation off of the last two arguments. If 5 friends of a similar ELO are all playing with eachother, from my own anecdotal experience, the game does not get easier or more carry-like, as stated before. While one guy can get carried by his four friends who might all be smurfing, it will be no easier than one guy being carried by his one other friend who is smurfing in duo queue, which will be no easier than one guy giving his friend his account info. There's a certain theme here that i'd like to address: Just because there are more ways to do something does not necessarily mean said thing is easier to do. There are a lot of different roads and highways that you could take to get from NYC to cali but that doesn't mean it gets any easier to get over there -- there's still going to be a speed limit.
Now that we got those arguments out of the way, lets talk about the main reasons the actual pros talk so pessimistically about dynamic queue:
- Because of such a miniscule pool of players in high ELO, anything can happen. A challenger can be placed on the same team as a diamond 3. Here, the concept of 'picking 2 roles' is a much larger issue than in other ELOs because it can take hours to get into a game.
- Due to the aforementioned pool isue and time issues, full solo teams, or teams with maybe one duo on them, can be pitted up against a full on 5 man in high ELO. Riot, as an exception for high ELO, will make their system cheat even though they've stated its not supposed to do that. This, unlike the issue for most people, is truely unfair and gamebreaking, because the 5 man LCS team will win 99% of the time.
That's all I have to say. I know people will continue to complain about dynamic queue even when what they complain about doesn't match what the pros complain about, but i'm just trying to educate this community, even if slowly.
