Its not a bad thing but is bronze skill range too broad?

I didn't really focus on it until the start of this season but lately I noticed bronzes skill range is a bit nuts. Players skill range feels as if it ranges from players who don't understand the importance of warding let alone pinging, To players who have the ability to predict almost ninety percent of other players movements to the point of the other player not even standing no where near a chance in hell to fight back. And this sort of brings me to my point. I feel as if bronze in itself just simply has too large a skill range. I could be wrong on this though I would be curious to where I could find the average total of players in each rank tier to see if this might be true.

Does anyone else in this tier ever notice or feel this in terms of the gap in player skill?

There will always be the lowest of the low divisions in ranked games. At the start of the season almost 80% of the community is in bronze, considering g1 is top 6% right now when usually p3 is. Now one has to consider is there really a difference between bronze and silver skill? I would say no, went though it all just like everyone else, and that silver is just players who play more games.

Before going going on a long rant; the difference is usual only noticed at the start of a season at balances out once silver gets populated.

Of course there's a difference between Silver and Bronze. To a high ELO player they are both easy to beat, but Silvers are demonstrably better than Bronzes in general.

I've played with bronze 5 all the way to plat in various normal matches. Until mid gold it's a toss up silvers are just normally slightly more aware of where they should be and how to use champs. Legitimately I've played with golds that were no different from people I've ran into in bronze. The skill gap that's perceived to exist isn't really as big as people make it out to be. At least, until you get up into actual high elos (Mid plat -> High Diamond). Those players are drastically different. Any mistake feels like it turns into a unstoppable snowball.

Although currently there is a big difference in bronze.. Some games it's a bunch of one season players or first time ranked vs s3 veterans. I honestly dread seeing the silver icon in ranked they usually feed the hardest. Which is natural considering a fresh account usually ends up in silver IV or Silver V if they go decent in promos.

People whose respective skill levels are far above bronze got placed in bronze due to an error (or multiple) regarding placement matches.

And this is why it's always wise to avoid ranked early in a season.

This weekend I was lucky enough to play a 4 man where we won 8 games straight in B5/4. What I learned from it basically, team work and champ select matter most. Most of all champ select.

What I was told by the player, Top - I can only play Jax or Singed top Mid - I can only play Mid lane Supp - I can only play Blitz or Leona

We followed these rules and carried hard, very one sided matches.

Now since then I've played duo queue with the first two guys. And my top only got placed jungle and my mid only got placed top. After seeing how hard they carried before I was surprised they fed like crazy playing roles they didn't main. So when they solo queue and get their main role/champ they carry the game and win. But can't do the same when things change, even though they know the game.

That is bronze for you, people know a couple of champs and limited roles. Gold and above these guys know many champs and multiple roles. I have no doubt the first two could be high silver if they got their primary 100%.

Well in a way when i refer to their skill I mean not the knowledge of the champions that they know but fundamentals, Such as pinging, Over extending with no vision, Going off solo. You know basics...Funny now that I think on it that when/if you ever point this out to said players they seem to almost always go into a rage as a result XD

True enough, the guy playing mid would ward bot side river and roam bot, carries hard. But you move him top he would forget to ward and never roamed. You change that little thing and they stop following the rules they follow in their main lane. I have to assume its because they feel behind and pressured so they start forgetting basics, and are to focused on being stuck in that unfamiliar role.

I believe that happens because they refuse to go outside of their roles willingly. There is no excuse to not be able to at least hold your lane well enough to get carried. Every player should play other lanes to some extent. They don't have to be excellent at it. They just have to not utterly fail.

Mid needs to keep wards around either side of river and look for roams. Mid is like a second jungler / support. Top needs to pressure the tower and look for tps while keeping riv and tri bush warded. Adc should be focused on farm and staying in a safe position hitting whatever is closest and strongest or squishiest without getting caught. Support needs to be map aware and warding / deeping warding + pinging movements.

The jungler is focused on rotating and grabbing objectives, they should farm jungle while going between ganks, and keep lanes pushed. The jungler also has to realize which laners will carry when you feed them. Saving a losing lane most of the time isn't worth it. They'll just throw away the lead or you'll just get counter ganked into a worse situation.

Jungle turns frantic when all the laners fail. I like to say its putting out fires with a cup of water. Your more likely to get burned than redeem it when a bonfire has already started (Feed trying to save the game). Sometimes it could of been stopped before it got to that point. Other times you just have to take the loss.

Just assume when you're laning that your jungler will never help you no matter what and things typically will go smoother. I'll say from playing Mid lane 90% of the time they won't even if it's a half health squishie at your tower. So play the lane like its a 1 v 1 that has 4 other players ready to help your opponent. That is, if you don't have vision on their full team then assume they're probably going to gank you.

PS: If you see a on the way ping from the jungler look at your map he's going to be ganking. Be ready to set it up or follow up. The map is a lovely tool. Look at it every 2 seconds!

The skill range is like that for every tier. If you're decent enough you should be able to carry out of bronze and silver. Play a bit more greedy and be a team player by being less of a team player. If you feel you can carry, build more offensive... for example if I was to play JG Amumu instead of going tanky I would go full damage but when you get to higher ranks play for the team and build tank stats. This works because players are not as good with positioning, kiting, reflexes, item management, map awareness on lower ranks but, once you get to gold, plat and diamond don't expect this to work as well.

Bronze is the largest group. And it also catches everything. Trolls, feeders, afks, toxics, they all end up in Bronze.
