Bounty System and Snowballing
So I'm looking through wiki and a quick and dirty spreadsheet at the rewards for killing people. I'm wondering if maybe there is an old thread that really even addresses this much better? I'll start with some basic premises.
Gaining a level has an average gold efficiency rating much like items do because leveling up provides basic stats, so I'm using someone else's calculation from good old google giving me an average gold efficiency of 580g average per level across all champs(some champs have higher or lower ratings). So theoretically you should be able to some comparison in gains between xp gain and gold gain when you kill another champ.
If you look at champs that are as many as 3 levels apart, even the high potential payouts pale in comparison with the potential payouts from high bounties. This is before you even factor in how the payouts are divided. The gold efficiency of the xp is divided exactly evenly, albeit through xp and level buff. The most gold you can take in personally this way is roughly by solo killing a champion who is level 3 while you are level 1. If you get any help with this kill, this gold is reduced instantly into halves or thirds.
The bounty payout however is drastically in favor of the person who last hits. The Kill Bounty and Assist bounty are separate; when more players assist in the kill the assist bounty is split among them, but the kill bounty remains untouched. On top of this, the assist bounty doesn't scale past tier zero(where the champ you are killing has zero kills atm). So whether or not the champ a team kills has 0 kills or 50 without having died, the assist bounty reward remains the same = 150g. While the assist bounty remains the same, the kill bounty scales indefinitely.
I assume it's a safe assumption that most matches, the fed player(s) on each team deal most of the last hits? It seems a lot like this distribution is responsible for a lot of snowballing, how else does a distribution like this possibly work out? The xp-gold-efficiency-payout seems much more likely to adjust snowbally matches, it only really rewards you for helping kill higher leveled players. Just me???
