Honestly, there are many games where voicechat works with the community. League is NOT one of them!

I actually disagree, most lobbies I have been in I put a discord link and usually everyone joins in. and have yet to have a person actually be toxic in call.I do get a lot of "ADC wtf" but then the adc actually fires back something like learning the champ and the other guy backs off because there is a voice attached to it. A lot of these times people who obviously would have been toxic tend to turn into super helpful players over voice. it is fantastic.

Well, voice adds a lot to a conversation. Like, we have an amazing ability to proccess vocal tones and get a better grasp of what people say. Attitude, jokes, emotions. Things that text doesn't provide. Voice chat makes people feel more familiar and behave better. With voice chat, you don't feel like complete strangers. But still, there are these douchebags from time to time....

I agree with you. I have yet to see a time where someone was toxic. Maybe I've just gotten lucky with Discord, idk, but it honestly seems to help a hell of a lot more than hurt. It adds better communication and sometimes you meet some really great people you stick with.

true,people tend to be more friendly when they have to speak. Its always easy to flame in chat and a little bit harder in voice. Not saying its impossible just saying how it is. Usually kids that rage and flame are the most scared when it comes to revealing their voice and face.

Everyone joins in what?? the max Id ever had join was 2 people.

While not many people ever join, one time we actually did have all five people on Discord, and it was great!

Might be true of lobbies where youre invited and you agree to join.

Games that I've played with voicechat usually turn into mic spam, hate speech/violent speech, or just obnoxious behavior.

Mine did not and if they do you can still mute or leave the chatt (witch is only a pain in the ass as long as there is no ingame voicechatt)

Its not about muting,its that the people that don't mute/actually using voice chat will not ping,chat,and will ignore the people who muted.

Butt still i even use pings wen all 5 mates are in voice chat its just more easy and faster than explaining,

problem with that will be that in that case, you can be sure you will get flamed even harder in chat, because you refuse to use it and the one guy who thinks hes super pro gets super tilted you dont listen to his voice commands..

Your second point happens in regular chat. As for the first thing why would you be flamed just for not using chat? League players can be asses but not to that point in my opinion.

If that is the case I hope they fire whoever wasted any time at all on the idea. There are already plenty of options out there for pre-made communication. Wasting valuable time and money developing ANOTHER option would be one of the stupidest things Riot has ever done, and they are KNOWN for doing stupid shit.

Agreed. Even in 2009 it wasn't the best choice for gamers, but it was free so it picked up speed. Why anyone still uses it today? Beyond me. Especially since it started trying to give everyone Chinese viruses.

Well for one thing, Skype has really become worse and worse at vetting ads over the years. Just having the damn thing open can try to infect your pc. Recently, several of my skype contacts have been hacked and used to try to pass on malware through sending links disguised as a popular Chinese search engine. Meanwhile, "sex bots" have also infiltrated, created their own profiles, and tried to add people also in order to get them to open suspicious links.

Also a veteran here, and i disagree. Im not going to deny that league had a toxicity issue, but that doesent mean the WHOLE GAME and all of the player base is toxic. its mostly lower elos that give the game a bad rep

Dota 2 can be much more toxic, but benefits immensely from the voice chat system because of the communication element, players that actually want to win will use it properly. And honestly the person being toxic would've been toxic in chat too.

By the way, this is coming from a guy that was told to kill himself on his birthday through voice coms on Dota because I took a second to receive a present from my parents who can rarely get me anything on special occasions, all because we missed a single kill. Believe me when I say the good can heavily out weigh the bad, especially if Riot actually punishes the players abusing it.

Voice is something that Riot is obviously interested in, and so is a large portion of the community. Instead of just saying "don't do it!" why don't you tell us why you don't want it and what you think the dangers are? Valuable feedback could help Riot implement the feature well, but this isn't what that looks like, imo.

Hmm, I understand your concerns about the potential voice chat system coming to League. What if voice chat were to be unlocked depending on your level of Honor you receive in the new system? That way, only the most positive players would be able to participate, decreasing the chance of toxicity to your ears. Players who haven't earned that level of honors would instead only be able to listen to other players and type in chat if they feel a response is necessary.

Trying to halt progression of a game or anything because it MAY be abused from time to time is very backwards thinking. Why don't we get rid of pings too people abuse those. Text chat too that gets abused all the time

It's best at when it's an opt-in feature.

Overwatch for example, has "Join Team Chat" as an option. You don' t HAVE to use it.
