Energy is at least gated at all points in the game.
Veigar's passive is basically makes him as efficient as an energy user. Chalice/Morello's and he's Riven.

His passive without huge mana pool is unnoticeable. What you've said about Chalice/Morello they are just basic AP items that any1 can get for good source of mana regen.

Look I´m no Veigar main, but I like to play him (more so prerework). And yes, the Buff-Broadside he got was to much and he is a little stronger than he should be right now. Still: Those Veigar Threads lately (including yours) are really making me cry... He is a immobile, squishy, farmdependend, mana hungry caster with important CD´s and delay on his abiliities, can it REALLY be that hard to ouplay him...
I never lost to a reworked Veigar because he is just like an Annie-mid, get a little more susatin, dont die and just kill him over and over again if he tries to do anything! x'D

Jeanne fan club1 votesI took veigar straight into ranked my absolute first game with him, and I hard carried a losing game no problem. At the end of the game my ult did around 2500 damage, and I was able to literally walk up to the enemy vayne and press R to one shot her. the enemy team's tanks stacked about 260 mr and 3000 hp and it only took 2 spell rotations without ult to kill them. I didn't even bother with void staff until the last 6 minutes of the game. The funniest thing is that I was against a full ad team.

There are probably dozens champions that can blow up squishies. Veigar is nothing special.

He is the #3 squishiest champion in the game that cant realy build tanky, while Nasus deals gigantical damage while building extrmely tanky and deals MUCH MORE DPS. And his Ult has mediocre range for a midlaner.
If Vayne, in the case she got caught alone (only scenario where a Veigar can realistically get to Ult a Vayne) and didnt buy a defensive item like

, she deserves to die for both things.

Voluug131 votesVeigar depends on not being shoved to his turret, otherwise he is forced to push back and go OoM extremely quickly.
Not only that, but R will only deal substancial damage if you either: rushed lots of AP early, like a NLR at min 9 or something. Lets see: mana mages usually, when not forced to counterbuild or die, go for their mana engine item first, like

, so the damage R does actually favors them. Manaless AP champions can actually rush MR or Zhonia's to no detritment on their build.
Also, there is no moment in the game where you cant outplay Veigar.
Earlygame neither you or him have AP enough for R to even take 50% hp. Also he cant initiate on you if you keep at range, because his stun doesnt last enough. Even if you should NOT be stunned by him unless you suck.
Midgame you should have Zhonia's allowing you Zhonia's his Ult unless you got stuned (which you shouldnt). Unless you rushed Rabadon/Ludens and no MR item.
Lategame if you are a squishy and Veigar catches you alone without your team is 100% your fault.

When the original "nerf" was released to live people bitched and bitched and bitched about how giving his giant AoE insta stun SOME kind of counterplay completely ruined him as a champion, while I'm sitting there like "but... he stacks AP twice as fast guys... and it's still an AoE stun..... he's just going to point and click and implode anything he wants with one item...."
But ofc I was simply called out for not being a Veigar player and dismissed as not being knowledgable on the champ to offer any kind of reasonable view point. And now he's played nearly every single match and he has become a problem for the exact reasons I said he would be way back when he was changed!
Go figure, but at least now I feel vindicated lol
