In the current Meta, how toxic would Deathfire Grasp be?

Well considering that it seems like
is kind of the old DFG even though
was suppose to be the new DFG, it would be pretty scary to have it back. Idk if I'd want to face an AP Assassin with DFG +
. Then again a build like that would miss out on
so there would be at least some trade offs for those damage.
The reason why I said Gunblade was basically the replace for old DFG, I've been seeing a lot more mages picking it up now since it's active is so strong that it's basically a free spell. We all saw
using it before, but I have seen other mages picking it up and spamming it recently.
But even if Gunblade wasn't in that section, having DFG + Luden's Echo + Thunderlords might be to much together and you could even add in
in if Gunblade wasn't added in. I'd say we wait to see what the pre-season and the new runes/masteries before we start thinking about if we want DFG back or not lol
pops DFG and ults a fed Cho'Gath while he noms her. They kill each other.
It would mean the return of Evelynn, the reinforcement of Ahri and ... probably the only real gamebreaker would be Gragas.
LUL
veigar
Veigar already easily oneshots, same with Syndra. Champions like Ahri and Leblanc would be the real problem.
deathfire grasp stats below
+120 ability power +10% cooldown reduction Active Unique: Deals 15% of target champion's maximum health in magic damage and applies the debuff, Doom. Doom amplifies all magic damage that champion takes by 20% for 4 seconds. 90 second cooldown (750 range).
That looks a bit overpowered. What was the cost?
2170 g. But it was only considered 94% gold efficient. But i remember hearing that to be a good mage, you had to be able to abuse it. Cant? Well sucks to be you! Your not viable!
Where did you get 2170g from? It cost 3300g from what I can remember in season 3. Also, 2170g is well over the gold efficiency you stated for the amount of AP it gives.
I read the sell amount by mistake.

3100G
Here is a video of it in action.

that was just old gragas being busted as fuck.
The issue with DFG in ye olde days was that many assassins (and even some mages
) had extremely fast burst combos and amping their damage by 20 percent led to ridiculously fast assassinations with little to no window to react. However, due to assassin reworks expanding that window and percent damage reduction stacking, I don't think that DFG would be all that bad right now. It could really offer something to build when the enemy team has knights vow and phantom dancer/Deaths Dance.
120 ap was "normal" for that time right?
I would prefer the old one. It was the same stats I believe but the active did 25% of the targets max health and scaled with like 4% per 100 Ap. I remember it getting to like 50% of the targets max HP.
A lot of games mages wouldn't last long enough to press the extra button.
But the forums would complain about annie again.
hell ya they would .. hang on lemme edit an earlier post.
Also ap poppy with dfg was epic. step one, ult adc. step 2 dfg q midlaner (they die) step 3 zhonyas and wait for q cooldown (2.5 seconds.) step 4 flash q adc (they die) step 5 Profit??
It'd actually be pretty useful imo.
The lack of DFG is the exact reason champs like Ahri, Kat, and Leblanc are now rushing Gunblade. A bunch of extra burst on an item is super good on champs with already have solid burst. This is part of why Duskblade is so strong, btw.

Pretty sure Kat always rushed GB.
I never saw it on her before the assassin rework. Akali, yes, but never Kat.
I saw it all the time
Old Kat didn't back when DFG existed.
To be fair old kat only got DFG if she was fed. DFG over zhonyas or rylies was considered such a troll build that people posted videos on youtube of how OP it was and the evidence was that they had 10 kills when they completed it and it snowballed out of control. Rylies rush on kat was far more common then dfg rush.
After rework yes but before that never even used the item
Pretty sure Kat always rushed GB.
Well - since DFG was removed pre-rework, and pre-rework Kat rushed Ludens... :P
I first read that as Deathfire Touch and thought you were asking if they reverted the AD scaling nerfs, making Jhin an even bigger monstrosity than he already is. Deathfire Grasp would be amazing, we need more AP items. :(
I remember when Leblanc and Kassadin had a deathgrip on midlane AP assassins. Between the broken fucking silences and the stupid quick burst, that era was cancer at its finest.
YOU GET ONE SHOT, YOU GET ONE SHOT, EVERYONE GETS ONE SHOT!

It never was toxic, it was a fun item in a game that wasn't entirely focused on competetive play. League is nowhere near the same game as it was 2009. The sad irony is that there are items in the game now that are far stronger than DFG ever was.
Ty DFG.

It's an item that enabled Ahri to actually kill squishies with W RRR Ignite. No thanks.

pretty sure she can still do that.
Nope. Cannot, especially after the W and R nerfs.
Which is why she probably wouldn't be able to do it with DFG in her current iteration.
idk, the %max HP magic damage + amp makes it a lot more likely, if not available at higher HP values
Can someone explain to me what this item did in-game?
I want it back so I can build it on Garen, especially now his gimmicky ult. Yes, please.
When
have met its AP match.
I started playing after they removed this item. Do want!
It would be a wasted item slot. See, everyone oneshots everyone as it is anyway, so a "oneshot someone" button that doesn't give any utility would be worthless.
Ah dfg. How much I miss you wel at the same time am glad your gone. It was fun to dfg R one shot people as veigar but it was waaaaay less fun when it happened to you.
Mages have been strong and more efficient than Assassins were so...
It would be completely broken. 120 ap in itself is very powerful, and the active is busted on some champions. With the added cdr, the gold efficiency is insane. It would make Ahri, Leblanc, Kassadin etc completely broken.
Well some tweaks could be made. And I don't know, with the percent damage reduction stacking going on, it might not be that bat at all.
NOt at all
