@Meddler Is Kindred's situation similar to the one Azir and Kalista are/were?

Im pretty curious about that. It would be nice to know if Riot considers Kindred to be similarly as hard to balance as those 2 picks are. And of course, if they are going to recieve some nice changes to make them stronger. Look at probuilds... All pro's can't do much with them. And you can't tell that they don't know how to play the champion. Also, current pick rate of The Eternal Hunters is one of the lowest in the entire game.

well they just decided to pretty much gut every part of her kit without bothering to compensate anywhere else. Kindred shouldn't be in the same situation as Azir and Kalista since i find her way easier to balance than Nid and she isn't considered to be in the same situation as those two. The main thing they need to look at with Kindred is whether or not they want to make her into a late game champion or an early game champion. Right now she is an early game champion that is able to scale into the late game pretty well due to her passive... yet if she doesn't do well early (or her team doesn't for that matter) then she has no late game.

Her ult while useful to save teammates also often backfires horribly since the instant enemies learn to just stand on it then they will be fighting you and it then all comes down to who can hit their autos/skills the instant the ult wears off. Making her ult only be self cast also hurt her way too much and made her incredibly clunky, it was a stupid move and they could have just lowered the range of it instead of making it be a self cast only thing.

I do really wish you could pick an area to place the ult. And if it can only be cast on themselves I wish you didn't need to select yourself as well.

No?

Azir: 42.63% win rate / 2.9% play rate Kalista: 44.74% win rate / 2.44% play rate Kindred: 49.83% win rate / 1.46% play rate

Kindred are unpopular but they're not terrible no matter how much bad Kindred players try to convince themselves of that. They're at worst a little bit below the curve, but "Kindred are unplayable" is a huge, baseless circlejerk.

Dude, c'mon. It's not only about win rate (it will drop eventually after slight smite nerf). But these champions got nerfed so heavily that most of people forgot about them, when in the past they were 100% pick or ban. The case is if Riot will do something about it. Also i did not say that they are unplayable. Kindred are just not able to scale into late without good early game. They are champions that can farm their advantage. Kindred can't as they currently rely only on the marks. And getting these marks can be pain in some matchups as Riot decided to make their stats more ADC like, forgetting that they can't always have someone to support them.

But the point is that even with the issues you're bringing up about Kindred, they're still at least somewhat decent. Their situation isn't at all comparable to someone like Azir, who Riot have never been able to make anything other than trash or completely overbearing, because Kindred are at worst a little underwhelming right now. Yes, Kindred are kinda vulnerable early game, but that's your trade-off for picking an ADC in the jungle. When their early game was spectacular they were a balance issue, and Riot made them balanceable by getting rid of their early game strength.

Kindred is not in the same situation and Azir/Kalista. She's not over-loaded.

The problem with Kindred is her scaling. She's supposed to be strong early, and she is unless she's over-nerfed, but due to her passive and its scaling that leads her to having a very unhealthy scaling for a champion to have. Her ult makes this worse.

For Kindred to be healthy she'd need a new passive. Getting significantly stronger with each kill is not a good way for a champion to scale.
