Soooo, anyone else think Sona is going to be nerfed?

I've been playing a lot of Sona lately, and I haven't lost a single game as her out of the 6 times I've played her. She's GODLY at poking, and she can still heal at the same time... I feel like Riot is going to be like, "Sona walking up to any marksman in lane, pressing Q and auto attacking to get rid of 20% of their health isn't fun, so we're making Q a line skillshot and lowering its damage. The aura effect remains the same, and still preserve her identity as an aura mage"

??

any predictions?

The problem with Sona is that regardless of how much they nerf her, her design is just SO strong that she'll still be a good pick.

But not a fun pick, though.

Damn fun for me

OMG congrats OP 6 games is totally a good amount to have an opinion on the balance state of a champion.

I hope they don't nerf her when there's people like fucking Thresh and Tahm. Can't she have just ONE moment of actually being competitive?

Oh yeah totally glances over at the 2 last seasons where she was MIA from high elo and competitive play for the whole time

nerf her into oblivion pls.

Strong in lower ELO, extremely weak against all-engage bot lanes. Also if you know how to counter her, she's dead.

You realize she has a high winrate even in high ELO right? 55% Winrate, I'd say she's doing quite well for herself.

Winrate doesn't matter unless the person in question arbitrarily decides that it does. Whether or not winrate means anything is pretty much at the discretion of each individual poster.

Sona has high winrate, cause she is so easy to play. even first timers are good with her most of the time, if they know how to spam QWQWQWQ, especially after they have taken care of her mana sustain..... Nerfs on her would be good. I played a lot of Sona in the past, but she is kinda boring. She is all about ranged poke and heals really. Only skills you need with her is aiming her ult right. (Her personality is even more boring than her abilities) She is really squishy as well, so IF you catch her she is goner. Good Sonas do not get caught though..

Waits on Sona nerfs

Meh, I honestly didn't think she got any better after the mastery updates, despite everyone thinking she's hot cheese now with windspeaker's. I'd much sooner see a Leona over her.

But no doubt they will nerf her anyway

Just rework her again tbh

You can still blow her up with one ADC AA on late game, or as soon as the ADC gets crit.

If there would be a nerf specifically on Q, I predict more a range reduction than a skillshot/damage nerf. "You have to expose yourself to poke, moar interactivity in lane."

But actually, I think it will more probably be a mana nerf (making Q cost more with ranks and/or increasing the mana cost on W by a flat amount). "You can poke and heal, but not both, 'meaningful choice' (tm)."

But actually actually, I'm not sure at all there will be a nerf to begin with. Sona has no flashy plays except flash/ult, no combo, so people find her un-fun, so she's not played so much, so she'll stay sleeper OP for a patch or two, at least.

You _already _ expose yourself to poke.

  1. Q only prioritizes champions over minions within Sona'a 550 AA range
  2. Most of her damage comes not from Q alone, but Q+empowered AA, or Q+Staccato, so, again, this happens within her AA range

  1. is wrong, it always prioritize champions, even at the max limit of 850 range.
  2. is true, though, so maybe it won't be a nerf range to Q.

I don't think it is really Sona. Sure in blind pick 5v5 if you go against a Sona and your support is a melee, or something without equal poke, then yes you are going to have a bad time.

Sona provides great poke in lane and a stun as well as heals. She excels in the laning phase. The exchange is she is super squishy. So in all league games but the upper levels, she can be extremely strong depending on the match up. Though you can say that about any reasonable accepted bot duo. Against a certain comp they can excel. Sona just happens to be really strong right now since her old counters have fallen off and are not played. All in combos used to be great against Sona, since all in supports have fallen off, Sona has benefited.

I don't know what you can really do to Sona to change the position. The solution is to play aggressive against her. From a Riot perspective you cant nerf her abilities without destroying her. What you could do is nerf her cord stack auto buff, and increase the mana cost of her Q. One of the reasons she feels strong is because she can continue to deal poke damage. There might not be a large enough mana penalty to her constantly poking. She should have to make a choice. Either use a great majority of her mana poking in lane, or saving it for heals. She should not be able to support both.

If they made it a skill shot they would likely increase the damage. But they probably won't do anything that significant until they rework her.
