I've been just wondering the difference between them. I feel like the ranked games is more in a competitive side of the game, but nothing much really of what I know....

Mind sharing your thoughts and exp?

Ranked matchmaking is bad. Normal matchmaking is awful.

Ranked games are more likely to play out instead of ending in a 15/20 min ff.

It's not worth playing ranked since we're getting people who are at your account level ruining the queue with their lack of knowledge. Noobs shit it up completely and then piss on the people who get stuck with the death tax because they didn't pick a hypermobile champ against the enemy snowballed lane or w/e. People who mash their champ kits just end up fucking up games with their crutch champions and managing to come even or stall until they can finally scale which leads to annoying 40-50+ min games. They don't want to FF either in an obvious blowout that doesn't have the skills to make a comeback in the first place so it is overalll unpleasant.

You're better off learning the game outside of SR, you cannot "hamfist learnings" into being decent at the game. While there are players that have done that, they have done so at a relatively high skill level at 1000+ games a season. You don't get shit from playing with chimps and skill level actually deteriorates if playing downward.
