Rock Paper Scissors vs League of Legends

League of Legends is a game of snowballs. There are quantitative things that make one champion better than another champion in game:

Level, Stats, and Gold value.

Rock, Paper, Scissors is a qualitative game. Players don't ask: but what if scissors has to cut a thousand sheets of paper? Instead, Scissors wins because it is Scissors (and not because Scissors upgraded to a Chainsaw).

I get the comparison but you only just roughly related it to league. You have to give examples.

It's just a general principle. You might say that counters exist in League of Legends. But any counter can be countered in League of Legends by snowball. Counters can't be countered in Rock Paper Scissors. For example in Worlds we see the casters talking about the gold lead a lot. This is because the gold lead (or snowball) is central to victory in League of Legends. They may talk about counters in League of Legends, but those counters are countered by snowball.

The principle is also particularly evident in low ranked games where "counters" get destroyed in lane and higher ranked players make statements like being able to carry any game in any lane with any champion.

So you're saying my yi can never kill malphite cause he's a rock and i'm scizzors? Makes sense.

Actually, what I'm saying is that if Yi's Scissors are sharp enough (snowball), then it doesn't matter that Malphite is a Rock. Scissors can beat Rock in League of Legends.

So does that mean Nami can beat Brand? :-O

The process isn't called melting but fair enough.

It also explains why Renektons giant blade of doom beats malphites rock.
