Why don't people play very much Nami?
I don't see very much of nami in games and her winrate seems like its consistently lower than 50%. Why's she weak? Seems to me like she has almost everything a support would want, all on different abilities.

Jack of all trades master of none. Want a healer? Soraka has her beat. Need hella peel and enchanter utility? Janna, Karma, and Lulu got her beat.
She's not bad, but it's better to focus on one part in the support role right now. Itemization also helps those with a better focus in one area buy items to help the other (like Redemption on Janna, Locket/Knight's Vow on Soraka).

although I can say her niche is her ultimate which, while not really special on paper, does give her a niche to counter certain champions in the game that the others can't as suddenly or well.

Debatably
wins there too but its a small area and nami can't screw it up.
Yeah she's got engage, but her early game is bad because all of her abilities take up 1/3 of her mana, like her W , her Q has a long cooldown you have 3 or 1 chance to land on someone. her e just gives more ms and as. her R is takes mastering to land in a teamfight, its large but if you land it the wrong way, everyone's gonna question your skill level.
She can harass in lane fairly well but only if you have good communication with adc since if not against any engage heavy bot lane she'll get blown up. She's super squishy, and gets outclassed in every category by a different support. She's good but if you want peel play somebody else.
I used to main nami.
The reason i do not play her is because her play patterns are pretty simplistic. I do not feel there is enough depth to the character, both mechanically and more importantly strategically, for me to enjoy.
Let's not forget the infamous saving someone with w but also stealing the kill at the same time, followed by the "omfg report Nami ks"
