Has Riot ever reverted a rework? Will they ever?

Just using these characters as an example. I do understand that time and resources are poured into character reworks and once it goes live, you cant really revert it because people started to spend money on said rework, the same can be said about people who enjoyed the champion before the rework and spent money on it.

Aatrox for example is basically a new champion entirely. Riot's reasoning for Aatrox being like old Aatrox is because he has a built-in revive. Though I thought the most iconic feature about Aatrox was that he can swap between more damage or sustain, something that other characters did not have. He was also a very autoattack based champion, but now hes more like Riven. His personality is completely different from his older version, going from a cool character that loves battle to a screaming edgelord that loves to kill people.

Mordekaiser A bit of a "bully" type of champion in a similar way to Rumble ends up being reworked into a duo laner with an ability to revive Dragon because "Dude what if you could revive the dragon!?"

Shen I find a lot of people who enjoyed playing Shen kind of stopped playing him since this rework. Its a bit odd in general. I do not have a lot to say about Shen as I haven't played him much since his rework. I enjoyed him before it, but he has definately dropped off my list of characters to play. I often hear people don't like new Shen so I figured I would just mention him here.

Zac Zac was probably higher up on my list of characters I played, before the rework of course. I don't really understand why he got one in the first place, he always seemed to be "Just right" in terms of balance. What I have heard by lurking in the boards was that he got changed for being kind of boring? His Q just being a skillshot slow and something about his ultimate not being exciting enough? Is it really a crime to have a character that is a bit simple like that?

Sejuani I really don't get this one either. Everything I have to say about her is basically the same as Zac

Ryze

Just to be clear, this thread isn't intending to completely bitch about reworks, but its more so if Riot will ever actually reverse some of the bigger changes they make to characters, such as a completely new ability or even a rework.

Is it at all possible that Riot will revert someone like Aatrox back to their previous identity and just fix it up a bit? Even making the new version a separate character entirely? (I do hear that before the rework, he had received a buff that served him really well).

Champion updates that were part of roster updates: yes. LeBlanc, Kog’Maw, and Rengar all received a revert in some capacity to their changes.

Large scale VGUs: No. And they likely never will. On your list, that would be Ryze, Aatrox, and Shen.

I'm not really sure why a thread for just open discussion about a topic is just getting downvoted with no comments lol.

Regardless of google, this board is for League of Legends gameplay, just because they could google stuff does not mean they can't ask a question.

kog maw W was doubling his auto attack and he could break the 2.5 attack speed ( pre-rune reforged) but he just had to stay still, lb had a sigild passive which after u hit a enemy with a spell u mark them and if you hit after 2 secs the sigil deals damage here is the link where kog maw rework got reverted to the one we have in 2018 https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-619-notes <-kog revert https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-88-notes <- lb revert https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-84-notes <- rengar revert ( just form the swimmer q to the current stabbing q)

The assassin rework on LB got reverted.

LeBlanc was the assassin class update. Kog'Maw was the marskman clics update.

Some reworks are for champions that are unhealthy or not unique, or have nothing that is redeemable in their abilities. They are never going to be reverted because they were changed because of huge issues.

They reverted Rengar I think and also Leblanc, it's unlikely but it can happen

I wish they would just fix their animations. The game play was fine LEAVE IT BE

We will NEVER see another one of those champions again and thats what kills me sometimes

I got M7 on old urgot and now I don't play the new one. is there a way to hide my mastery? or do i need to play another champ to have more mastery pointsUrgot

Interesting, I didn't even know Leblanc had a rework(I was gone for two years). The reason I didn't mention KogMaw was because I was looking more at completely different abilities, thats not to say that changes like this don't have a huge impact.

Reworks of Gameplay updated champions yes... Reworks on Visual and Gameplay Updated champions No.

Champs Aatrox will never get reverted as he had a full overhaul on abilities, visuals and his overall gameplay and just existence as a champion.

Champions like Sejuani had a possibility to get reverted since it was just gameplay but since the time has passed it's unlikely.
