Are you going to listen to your community about Fiora's new VU? I highly reccomend you do.

Riot, I can understand your position. "We already had people do the art and models". But that shouldn't stop you. There isn't a huge rush about it. It is better to have it done right than locking in something people don't like.

Fiora's in-game models and artworks are not in need of a VU. All she would need is to have her textures changed a little bit on her skins. That is literally all you have to do.

Everybody is talking about it Riot. Please don't let me down and blow it. People have been complaining about a lot of things you guys have done with the game recently. I think it is in your best interest to listen to them.

Do the right thing. Just give her a texture update. Do not edit her model and splash arts.

To me, this looks like a literal downgrade.

EDIT: Despite all of the negative feedback over her appearance, she didn't get changed. Shocking.

False, that's only one way we're encouraged to vote. I quote Tamat here (shows up as a Rioter on the left side of the page, but not in the comment section, but has a title when you mouse over him? Was a Rioter at the time of post anyway):

It's fine that you chose to vote by what's a good discussion or not, but I've consistently fallen to the agreement/disagreement voting, and I'm validated in doing so.

That's fucking dumb then. By voting to disagreement, you're suppressing unpopular opinions, thus killing any possible discourse or debate, and in the end you just turn the boards into a giant circlejerk.

Maybe I should go into my logic a little bit more:

  • If someone says something I flat out disagree with, but doesn't support it, it gets a down vote ("G&B should be limited to Diamond Players only")
  • If someone says something I flat out agree with, but doesn't support it, it's 50/50 on if I'll up vote it. It depends on how I'm feeling. ("AP Ezreal is the Best Ezreal!")
  • If someone says something I flat out disagree with, provides pretty good reasoning for it, and afterwards I still flat out disagree with it, they get a no vote from me. They've done nothing to deserve a down vote, but they haven't done enough to deserve an up vote either.
  • If someone says something I flat out disagree with, provides good reasoning for it, and gets me to be more sympathetic to their position, they get an up vote. I may not end up changing my stance, but they've at least helped me understand, and that's worth something.
  • If someone says something I agree with, and supports it, they get an up vote.
  • If someone says something that's wrong, I typically down vote it. No need to spread false information.
  • If someone says something that's right, I up vote it. Spreading correct information is good.

With that as my general rubric, I do not, as you suggest, suppress discourse or debate.

As you might have guess, your post on the actual purpose of votes got a down vote from me, because it is spreading false information. That said, the down vote spawned a larger discussion (me explaining why you're wrong). I accomplish the same goals you look to promote, but with a different way of voting.

Yep, that's what happens when you go against popular opinion on reworks. People think any kind of positive feedback will harm the negative image of the rework, I believe.

Their fears aren't entirely unfounded, though, and I think that's a pretty major issue.

You're moving the goalposts now. I'll take that as a concession.

Anyway, "ugly" could be describing my subjective opinion on the model's attractiveness, or it could be describing how the model's face in general looks like shit. the hair textures are worse, and her face looks exaggerated in its severity, lending it a cartoonish quality (Cruella De Vile is a common comparison). This makes it ugly.

Try to keep up little man, because right now I am on a whole other level.

The little concept blurb they had was really good for her IMO. It's just execution in the model and splash art.

The design of the armor is better I think. It makes her look more like a posh aristocrat duelist. Her clothes look more like an actual fencing uniform now, and I don't think the changes they made to her hair is bad at all. If you were fighting against an opponent, you wouldn't want your hair covering your eyes.

It's the overly hard lines in her face in the models and splash art that could use some tweaking.

It's not even like a ton of new animations were actually warranted by this new kit. Obviously improving animations and making characters move more dynamically is desirable and in this area her kit never really allowed her to excel. There was room for Riot to do cool stuff with Fiora.

But instead they just went off the reservation.

I will always like Fiora regardless of what may come.

Refinement, unwavering conviction, a rapier wit, and even sharper reflexes make her one of, if not the, most attractive women in the League of Legends.

Of course, I am extremely biased, but I have no problem admitting that.

The issue is that Riot doesn't aim for a good middle ground, they need to reveal these ideas early enough to get feed back before investing in them to heavily, but late enough that barring major negativity they are sure it will be the final product,

Yeah actually she looks great. I understand some of you have really strong feelings about her, but the new models are tuned for the updated aesthetic of the game, for summoners rift, and to be in line with the rest of the champions. I think it looks great, and many people agree. I'm voting for the changes to stay just as they are.

Who cares what you think though? People have spent actual money on this champion and her skins, and now those people who don't like the new Fiora at all have to sit the fuck down and deal with the fact that they have wasted money on a champion they now have no interest in playing.

It's really a little bizarre how selfish some people who like the new Fiora are. Why should she be changed regardless of what people who already liked it feel?

Also, this "to be in line with the rest of the champions" shit sounds more like an excuse for a bad VU than anything else. What about Fiora's appearance clashed with other champions?

People who prefer the new look wouldn't have cared if Fiora received no VU. People who prefer the old look certainly are upset that it's being canned.

I'ts more like I don't think a slight VU was out of the question, and they simply got the chance to do some work on her. Some design-choices on the old model were questionable (metal-boobs). Some visuals were improvable from a technical standpoint (fidelity in the right places, black is a problematic colour, readability, design that works from a top-down view). I liked certain changed details on the old model, but subjectivity is the name of the game here.

Ignoring the "what I'm used to"-factor, I think the new model has a leg up in many areas.
