The Vayne PBE changes seem quite nice. However, I think they're overtuned a bit.

I like the changes on the PBE. It is clear what the goals of these changes are:

  • They want to nerf that Stattik + IE + Q cheese which is very popular in Vayne builds by removing the bonus damage of her Q from being able to crit;
  • They want to shift her more towards her tank buster ability by buffing her W's % health damage, and allowing her to heal for her victim's maximum health when Final Hour is active.

Overall, I like the changes. Vayne players will prefer buying attack speed items and kite the enemy team like they are supposed to do, and not rush IE + SS and press Q to chunk half of a squishy's health.

However, in my opinion, the changes are a bit overtuned as of now. Indeed, Vayne seems to be at a good place balance-wise, with a very nice 51% winrate and a respectable 9.71% playrate. Those stats show that her players are doing very well with her. Basically, she doesn't need a buff. I think the changes should unaffect Vayne's overall power, but shift her more towards her intended tank busting playstyle.

In my opinion, here is what the current PBE changes should be:

Q - Tumble:

  • Overall, these look good. However, the 2 stacks per Q seems to be a bit overpowered, so instead, why not make her Q roll faster as she levels up? This way, late game Qs won't decrease Vayne's DPS due to the relatively long roll (compared to her attack speed), but she won't just delete everything with instant Silver Bolts. Plus, it will feel better for Vayne players to have faster rolls.

W - Silver Bolts:

  • Looks perfect to me. More % health and less minimum damage, making it more effective vs. tanks than against squishies.

R - Final Hour:

  • I personally have no problem vs the new healing mechanic. However, I think the numbers are a bit overtuned. 20% seems really huge, considering a 3000 hp tank dies, she would heal for 600 hp (almost half of her HP at mid game), considering she damaged him first. Something like 10/15/20% seems more bearable, as having 20% enemy max health heals at lvl 6 would really be too strong. So tuning down the power a bit early game is kind of necessary.

  • Not related to the current changes on the PBE, but I personally believe her R's bonus AD steroid could be replaced with something like Attack Speed and/or additional damage on her Silver Procs. Bonus AD sounds more like something an assassin would want, which is fine if Riot wants to keep Vayne as a secondary Assassin. However, I think being able to shred through both tanks and squishies can be a bit too strong, especially with the directions Riot is taking with these changes. Just my two cents.

So, what do you guys think overall of the Vayne changes? :)

The heal isn't needed for me. She is extremely annoying to kill her, add an heal isn't good for counterplay.
