"Just because adcs are required to win games doesn't mean they're good enough"
"Quit whining, tanks are fine,, have you ever tried to teamfight without one? Nevermind that tanks are one of the perennially least popular class, right after supports, and that everyone talks about how shitty they feel to play. Nevermind that only two to three (2-3) tanks are ever viable at a time, even in tank metas, and people only ever really play seriously overtuned tanks. Nope, the fact that there is at least one (1) tank per team in each game and that two (2) of them have high winrates and also that I don't like playing against tanks because if I can't get kills I tilt off the face of the planet means that tanks and their items should get massive nerfs across the board."
I, personally, love playing tanks. Or, at least, I love the idea. I love playing against some hyper-aggressive lane-bully and telling him to fuck off - I won't necessarily kill him, but he will not kill me. I love baiting people into overextending, because they're too blood-thirsty and focused on kills to realize the danger they're in and sit back and farm. I love disrupting teamfights..."I won't kill you if you don't stand in me, but you can't be here right now because I said so"...."No, you do not get to walk at my adc. You can sneak around, with care, but you have to put in work"...."Yes, you're very fed, but I will be in your face, and you won't be able to kill me. You're going to have to work around that".
Unfortunately, riot (and the community) has decided that the power fantasy of tanks is actually "I will lose lane, feed my ass off, and have the lowest combat stats of anyone in the game, but my kit scales so well with the skill level and gold advantage of my adc that I will probably win the game if you aren't playing a tank and I have a decent adc". And I hate that. I want to be an unkillable monstrosity, not someone that passively increases the team's winrate by 10% just by existing.
I dunno, is it just me, or do others feel the same?
