@Riot: How do you justify LP loss when teammates disconnect?

Just played a ranked game where my top laner disconnected as soon as minions arrived to lane, and never returned. Naturally, we lost the game. Whether this was a true disconnect or a manual leave, how do you justify an LP loss in this case? I can literally think of no reason this game should count against the remaining players, or as a win for the other team. Missing a player is a huge and unfair disadvantage, and if this game is supposed to be the premiere e-sport, there should be some level of fairness to the ranked system for cases like this.

I realize this topic has been covered before, and I'm sure some hand-washing excuse has been made in a red post before now, but there needs to be an actual change made. It's kind of hard to justify allowing this to count against players when you allow LCS players to pause, MID-GAME, for the tiniest issues, while the rest of your players have to deal with this nonsense.
