It's Official, Riot Completely Ignored Zyra Mains Telling them to Balance her Around Mid

6 months ago when Zyra was being reworked in the MYMU Riot's original line on balancing her was

She gets played both lanes successfully and will continue to--we're committed to keeping her strong in both lanes. Balancing for support is about acknowledging that most Zyra players do play her there. Trying to force her into a new lane isn't part of our goals with the update, but if she ends up mid we'd still be happy with her.

This rightfully pissed off a lot of people, there was a poll made at the time where 68% of player would prefer Zyra as a mid primarily with 38% wanting Zyra mid only.

Despite this Riot still made changes to force Zyra more towards support and away from mid while 20thCenturyFaux gave the most diplomatic answer possible.

Update here! We’ve done some research and had a fair number of internal discussions on the topic, and we wanted to post about changes in our thinking. The #1 clearest thing that’s come from the conversation is that there’s a lot of passion about where Zyra wants to go and everyone wants the freedom to make their own way on the rift, without feeling like someone's telling them what lane they should be in. To that end, we think it isn’t smart to aim balance toward a specific lane. We feel we should update Zyra as a whole, not any given role for her.

Riot hasn't at all stood true to this statement since Zyra's rework, as I knew they wouldn't. Zyra has been heavily tailored into the support role with mid Zyra being mostly ignored.

Earlier today on the PBE boards a Rioter all but confirmed that this is the internal school of thought on Zyra when he posted about the Alistar rework coming up.

The only concern I would have about health ratios is that kinda pushes Alistar into the same problem Zyra would have if her AP ratios were high and base were low: Alistar will be incentivized to go to a lane where he has better gold income (probably top) because his base will be bad to be impacful as a support (lower income) and ratios will be health based (will require gold to get health items).

This is just Riot continuing on their now 3 and a half year long streak where they pretend Mid Zyra players don't exist and continue to screw mid Zyra over in favour of support. This is why midlane Zyra players were so aggressive in the MYMU thread. We knew that if we couldn't get Riot to straight up say 'we're balancing Zyra around mid' they wouldn't hesitate to pull bullshit like this all over again.;
