I just can't do well with Riven
Like, I even got demolished by a Nasus the other day.
I don't get it. I never seem to deal enough damage nor be tanky enough to win laning phase.
wat do

I don't play Riven, so take from my advice what you will. Riven is a snowball-reliant champion, which means you want to get an advantage over your opponent and abuse it. This does not necessarily mean you need to be very aggressive early in the laning phase, especially against someone who has high damage or survivability early on. To really do well, you will need to know your lane opponents very well and coordinate jungle ganks when you do not have a sure advantage in lane. Do not play every lane like you are guaranteed an early advantage, as doing so is a sure way to end up losing painfully. The same goes for entering trades or all-ins that you are not sure to win.
Mechanically, the two things I would be aware of are weaving auto attacks in between your abilities to maximize damage (I think this is important on Riven, but I don't play her) and minion location. No matter how high your durability or damage, you will lose trades and extended fights if you fight in your enemy's minion wave, as they will all turn to attack you when you damage their champion, and they will tear you up in the early game. If you can, lure your opponents into fighting you in your own minion wave.

i agree with what you say but if you factor the shit attude the mrons have i wont gank you becuase i dont like you kinda crap im seeing every where then riven really isnt a good pick less you grind your skills with her hard for hours on end
Riven is extremely easy to counter and very item and match up reliant.
Even match ups she wins can be thrown with a single mis click because she has the lowest HP/5 in the game, no sustain, and depends on winning her lane to be worth anything at all. If your enemy gets solid lane advantage and you don't get a gank, you're out.
She's a champion you have to invest a lot of time into to really learn and succeed with, but once you do she's one of the most fun champions in the game, imho. And one of the most well designed, too, since she has to trade damage for her mobility due to how her Q works as a gapcloser.
Basically... Just keep practicing. Learn her animation cancels, and make sure you're trading properly. Learn every match up you can in and out, etc.
Use your skills correctly. You cannot trade without your skills and you trade very well with your skills. IF you are using all of your abilities just to get to him you wasted all of your damage on nothing. You must stay at an appropriate distance so that you can get in and out while using your shield to absorb some of his return Damage. Basically you can hit him with 3rd Q > AA > W > AA > E to absorb damage/creep autos and get out.
i main(ed) both riven and nasus, put about 150 on riven last season and 30 on nasus, so ill try you help out. If he nasus knows what hes doing you shouldnt win lane as riven, i had alot of people pick riven into me and not know how to play her or know how to deny nasus, like most people in bronze/silver. They dont even rush a Last whisperer All the nasus needs to do is farm, and ignore and survive the early game riven because once he gets a frozen heart, he's unkillable, including the fact he outscales riven by alot.
Now some advice on riven, get as much CDR as possible early, meaning you should always get a brutalizer and sum lucidity boots first. It may seem good to just buy pure damage early but CDR is too important for you. The main runes you should run are flat AD reds, Flat AD quints (i used to run scaling quints, but immediate AD is better for riven), flat armor, although sometimes i take both scaling health and flat armor, 5 scaling CDR blues and finally 4 scaling MR blues. I don't think riven scales well with armor pen so you should never take those. For laning, it's not always necessarily good to fight at early levels (because riven is weak to ganks early contrary to popular belief), farm is alot more important IMO. You should never push the wave too far when the enemy has a jungler that can punish you early until you know where they are at. Your normal build path should include>in order>
your core then>
the next items are what you want to shoot for although you will likely never get to this point and have to build at least one health item anyways
, last item depends on what you want
or literally MOR DAMAGE
(never build these unless you are super far ahead or get an IE if you go riven adc) Now last thing, to try to explain AA cancelling, its when you Q on an enemy and right click off and on them really fast which allows you to reduce your Q cast time greatly and weave autos in at the same time, which is really difficult in a close fight with everyone and their moms on the screen. You can also cancel your W, R, and Hydra by casting E at the same time, or just look it up on youtube/watch boxbox. Hope this helped. o and hear are some match ups you should always win
alot of them are in the mid lane because i played riven mid mostly. gl!
Animation canceling helps, I find a few of them tricky, but simple ones such as E-R or E-W or even Hydra-W, can make a huge difference as you can catch them off guard. The ulti animation is quite dramatic so you can get a step on them if you cancel that animation.
