Rito doesn't own LoL in China that's why China has different stuff.

I don't remember which server got Silent Night Sona for free if you moved your account there (I think Turkey, not sure) when it opened, it was back when Rot wouldn't sell it.

Well, see, Riot made LoL and is located in NA, but Riot is owned by Tencent, a Chinese company. So the parent company can do whatever they want.

However in china tencent has the rights to publish its own client, and treat it accordingly. but only in china and only the client and the servers.

An entire map reskin with high detail, even in the background.

An entirely new announcer (only temp tho...) for all map modes.

Game achievements (that required grinding, like I said earlier this lore event was really flawed... which helps to improve future lore events) that unlocked icons.

A free skin if you played GP during the event and owned him.

And did I mention LORE?

I mean, if you really think the event was just replacing turrets with cannons, you are the king of understatement and completely ignored the level of art detail and the substance of the event. People really liked it too. It wasn't perfect, but Rito will (hopefully) improve their game.

tl;dr: it was a little more than changing turrets. Get an eye exam :P

But this reference isn't even that old - the theory only reached its peak popularity a couple years ago. I know it was around way before that, but it's not like it's disappeared from Reddit/the forums for that long.

To clarify to some people who think J4 isn't real: In Sion's previews, there's a passage where it says Leblanc used Jarvan's blood (the 3rd? don't remember) to imitate the prince for the battle where J4 attacked randomly. So the current J4 is real but Leblanc could imitate him again for this lore Easter egg.
