Stay in your lane

After playing many games, I find staying in my lane and taking towers wins games far more than when I group up with the rest of my team to fight.

Let me know if you disagree, but after playing maaaany many games I've noticed that focusing on your lane wins more games than roaming from it to gank other lanes. When my laner leaves to go gank, I take that opportunity to either kick in my lanes tower or get it fairly low, giving us a higher advantage. People always get mad at me when, instead of staying in mid lane with the rest of my team, I run bot or top to kick the tower in and leave. But note that I don't leave in the middle of a fight, I just see that both teams are playing passively, so instead of sitting behind our tower waiting for something to happen, I take advantage of the enemies grouping and put pressure in other lanes. Even when it's MY lane that's being ganked by a bunch of people I try to get my other teammates to take their lanes tower, but they always want to run to my lane and start a fight. a tower for a tower is better than a tower for a kill or two, in my opinion. I just find it stressful when I see an empty lane with a free tower to take and my teammates are "grouping up" because they want to start a bunch of team fights. But please educate me if you believe grouping is a better tactic than pushing lanes.

As a Fiora main, I agree. Issue is, most the teams i get lose all sense of logic lategame, and make poor teamfight plays. So I just pressure the enemy towers.

I'm that guy that goes 0/0/2 at 20 minutes but has 40 enemy jungle CS and 3 turrets destroyed.

it depends on your champion, the champions on your team, and the champions on the enemy team. if you can 1v2 and get away with it (or get away) then split pushing works great, if you cant survive getting ganked then its not worth it to stay in the lane.

as well, can your team survive a 4v5? if yes keep splitting, apply pressure on the map. if no, you might want to group or your team could get cleaned up and you lose the game while sitting in top lane afk split pushing. depending on how late the game goes a 5 man unit can take down the entire base while your pushing so you'll lose the game without a chance of fighting back.

its all risk vs reward, know you limits and play within them.

All situational and depend on stages of the game/how it is going. Sometimes it will be better to group and fight and sometimes it's better to go side lane and take objectives. Generally it is better to group by mid to late game to try and not get caught because by then death timer can be long and being 1 man down is not a good thing.

It's situational.

Work on decision making.

Staying in your lane will not always be the best idea.

It's frustrating bcuz ppl want to be the "star" of the show instead of staying in lane and doing their job. If a lane needs help, ask, ping, w.e. but if they don't stay in your own lane...take tower, get CS. That is how I learned to play...and how I feel the game should be played. However, it is not the standard way most ppl I encounter, play. It sucks, bcuz it starts to feel like other teammates only care about themselves and racking up their kills. Becomes beyond frustrating.

I agree with this most of the time. I can't count how often there's a huge wave crashing in to bot tower while we're 5v5 mid Lane trying to siege. I ping the team back, ping on my way, go, then my team backs off and we get a bonus 30 farm and keep a tower right? No, I'm dreaming, they fight immediately and die 3 or 4 for 0 or 1 then blame me "just had to get that farm".

I don't know when people will realize that once a teamfight/siege has effectively ended, you're not going to get ANYTHING out of continuing to push it. If the enemy team is there to defend the siege 5v5 and you're not ahead, that siege is not going to work. Meanwhile both teams are wasting a lot of gold and xp in the side lanes (especially if the wave is pushing against you).

I have to say that a lot of laners should roam though. If you can quickly clear a wave as it arrives to Lane you can definitely get off a roam without losing tower damage (or more than 2cs). Mid laners especially. You can make a lot happen with a good roam. It's also important to group to deny a big tower dive. Once the play has passed though, get back to pressuring your Lane.

usually when u reach inner turrets. split pushing ends. at least. in low elo. you can't go further on your own and hope your team isn't too behind. split pushing was my thing when i first started playing the game. i was an idiot "well we need to kill the nexus right imma just do that". just doesn't work anymore.
