The Rakan changes are pretty nice

Now because this is the boards I know a majority of people will throw a fit just for me writing that, but currently these are the current proposed Rakan changes:

Base HP increased from 480 to 540 Base Armor increased from 29 to 32 Base AD lowered from 70 to 58 Base MR increased from 30 to 32 MR growth increased from .5 to 1.25 Grand Entrance (W) dash speed increased from 1500 to 1850 The Quickness (R) "Rakan has a .5s cast time (he can still move) where he can no longer use his 2 or Flash"

They got rid of the self ground I repeat THEY GOT RID OF THAT.

Making Rakan wait .5 seconds after his ult to use his W or flash IS a healthy change. Plus giving him more defensive stats (that of a melee champ) means he can be more aggressive in terms of protection and defense early game.

AND THAT W SPEED IS BACK BABY. WOO!

If you test it out on PBE you'll see that it feels super clunky to play with. His engage is still pretty reliable even with the delay, but now it feels really bad to use. This most likely won't stop him from being a good pick in pro and a bad pick in solo Q

Yup, they knew that the self grounding was way too harsh and made him way too useless.

Especially when faced against slows, any terrain makers, anyone with an extended CC.... yeah. Lol

Its weird.

Everyone up in arms about the no more r->w after these changes in exchange for these buffs, but let me ask, what's stopping someone from doing w->r instead?

In contrast to the changes they had before, yeah I would say this is a lot better. The change in general still sucks though. I hate that hes being made more awkward because of pro play.

I very much dislike this change since it's really not removing the problem Rakan has in pro play, which is just how reliable his engage, disengage and counterenage are. I am almost completely certain that he is going to be top tier for a few patches in pro play before they are forced to nerf him back to how he is now.

The flash lock out is unnecessary imo. He can just flash before he ults so this will mostly him feel more clunky than normal. And without his W, his R will behave like/be as healthy as any flash+hard cc combo in the game.

The 12 base AD nerf is a pretty big deal too. That’s 4x more than the standard 3 AD nerf and Rakan can get in just as many AAs as the adc in an early fight. It’ll also nerf his effectiveness with Xayah’s W AS buff which I’m guessing was their goal.

The defensive stats and W speed will go a long way for his early game.

Yeah, about that, if the speed comes back I think that the R will need to delay the other a bit more than 0.5

iDarkWind4/19/2019, 10:15:06 PM1 votes

if I am not wrong: They're buffing him by a lot in compensation for the opponent be able to react to his ultimate in 0.5 seconds? You really believe he will stop being dominant on pro play because of those 0.5 seconds? I mean, they're the best players in the world after all, but still.

You miss clicked 2 instead of W here

Hmm, I thought these changes didn't really matter until his AD nerf? It actually changed my gameplay with him and couldn't scare off opponents with this patch :c. That R then W didn't really matter. His other buffed stats didn't really matter... I really thought his AD for AA is a problem for mains and now didn't see Rakan nowadays~

He's still squishy as hell and his combo denial is huge. The guy is basically unplayable.Give back his old R it's irritating.

Seems like a shoehorn fix. Better would just be making it a channel that he gets a leap with after channeling. That would be more on par with traditional game mechanics and not a one-off shoehorn jank fix.
