Thoughts on the upcoming Patch 8.8?

So how about you write your thoughts about the new patch coming out? Personally, Riot's got a few champions a little better again, but that has yet to be seen in practice, like newly reverted Leblanc, reworked Ahri and definitely reworked Varus (although Varus will no doubt make others cringe in disgust due to the impact bot lane has nowadays).

I'm not surprised about the Sion nerf (although I thought it was going to be on his E rather than his Q), and I'm happy about Nautilus and Lissandra buffs. However, a lot of people would think that the Janna nerf is too smol. People would rather have her E and R be nerfed to the ground. Honestly, I rather have a baby's first step than a step into the wrong direction imho, so if this is a way to nerf Janna's power to roam, then that would be a good way to start. Although I'm expecting more nerfs to her soon, I don't want to see her reach the point of unplayability.

Azir nerf and Ryze nerf was no surprise (old Irelia is shaking in her grave...), but a Vi buff out of nowhere makes me want to play her when the patch goes live. Taliyah would be unnoticeable, Kai'sa nerf was something many wanted (but I think that was from the botlane hate train), and Graves nerf came out of the blue.

Other than that, Archangel's nerf wasn't a big surprise, but Rice Ryze players weep, along with snek waifu Cassiopeia and Activia Anivia players. And other than a much needed buff for Lethal Tempo and the big change for Sweeping Len's retirement, I think the patch is fine.

It's not perfect though.

If there could be improvements... If Archangel's was nerfed, what about Manamune? Even though Ezreal is the only one that builds it as his core Blue Build item (Muramana Udyr, Jayce and old Urgot notwithstanding), it's still really powerful on him only, and very restrictive on him only. I hope they rework that item soon, making it more viable to other champions...

Another could be to nerf other champions in terms of their early game prowess. Right now, imho, the meta is focusing on a "surrender at 10" aspect where the champions that snowball early can easily end the game early as well, which is why botlane is so strong once they win their lane (the marksmen are carries after all). Early bullies such as Darius Riven Yasuo Sion (he's nerfed though, so ignore him) Pantheon and Illaoi come to mind due to their natural tankiness (some would argue Yasuo and Panth, but they have passive protection), and punishing playstyles. But I'm a patient man. I can wait.

TL;DR: The patch was fine. Reverts and big changes are pretty big for a few mages, one tank, and Vi. Other changes all around, along with a few baby steps on quashing Janna, and ADCs. However, other than the Leblanc revert, Ahri change, Vi change and Varus change, the rest of them are very small. That's just the way I like it.

Now what are your thoughts?

I'm psyched as hell for that open spellbook rework, it looks interesting.

Oh shit I forgot about that rework! I actually can't wait for that too (although it would be too easy using Heal and Clarity during lane phase, so there has to be some workaround...)[sg-ahri-2]

I think you have to rotate 3 different spells before you can reuse one, so at least it wouldn't be a downright spam imo.

That is true, but you can easily cycle through Ghost, Heal and Clarity, and then go back to your original spell. Kinda... off-putting for me.

but on the upside, you can swap out of combat, so after an all in from both sides where we all blow say, heals botlane, I can then immediately swap for like ignite then go in for a second all in
