When do you get demoted?

Im still a bit confused as to how the demotion works. So i hit plat5 and im at 0lp. ive lost 2 games already and my mmr is still a bit higher than normal. Will i get demoted if i lose another game or is it until my mmr drops lower than the current division im in?
