[Quality of Life] Evelynn. Auto Camera Re-positioning.

Hey, I'm back with a few more ideas on helping round out patching up some rough areas on Evelynn's client-gameplay interaction, and then some.

So far, I really really like the new Evelynn's kit and am feeling right at home with the hardware aspect of it all. Now about a few things that could be done to greatly improve the way playing Evelynn feels appear. Here they go.


Toggling "Enable Line Missile Display"

In Interface options under "Abilities and Attack Display" This option affects the way the targeting ellipse for Spells and Abilities is displayed. Toggling this option off is supposed to remove the "line" display in favor of a circle that just indicates the range instead the trajectory of the projectile. It is mostly used for skill shots and indirect attacks that don't require a target to initiate.

Toggling this option does not appear to adversely effect Hatespike or Last Caress. What is displayed is not necessarily the "true" zone of attack as pointed out by the indicator on both abilities, especially on Last Caress. The ability indicator gives you an idea of where it is going to go, but I want the ellipse for those abilities the way I have on my other skill shot intensive champions. It will help me judge how far away I need to be from the otherside of the wall in order to hop the wall properly.

XinZhao (It also doesn't effect Xin Zhao's "Wind Become Lightning" ability, which is worth mentioning here because that has no range/line indicator to it regardless of this option being toggled, which makes it hard to see how far the ability will reach without testing it a few times at different angles.)


Second up, camera stuff! In particular, auto-recenter functions.

When I play, I don't stick to any one camera mode. I lock the camera, hold the camera in place with Space Bar, and click move through the minimap. I use every mode of the camera available. I'm happy with the "Per-Side" offset and the "Semi-Lock" options. That said...

Don't hi-jack my camera.

Last Caress is the culprit here. Whether the Camera Lock function is toggled on or not, using this ability disturbs the location of the camera over the map. It currently re-centers the camera's position over to Evelynn's Destination. If Last Caress was used to travel through a wall, the location placement will behave like flash, dropping her off at the nearest location. The problem with this is that a player could intentionally move their camera while buffering Last Caress to preemptively discern their next moves and make sure to input the commands quickly, but once the ability has finished execution, the camera is hi-jacked back to Evelynn's warp destination, meaning the player needs to move their camera twice. They are interrupted and prevented from seeing or clicking on places and things beyond the area of the map where Evelynn lands for a LONG time! (think of how long Charm lasts at rank 1 and 2, it takes about that long to get control of the camera back). This wouldn't be so bad if our mouse cursors didn't rely on the camera's position.

My solution, unlock it. If we play with the camera Locked, we don't need auto recenter. If we don't, we can always press the space bar to just recenter when we are ready. Don't make us have waste actions per minute on wonky auto camera if we don't have Cam Lock on. Pretty please? [sg-soraka]

Ryze Galio (I want to make this argument for Ryze and Galio too, because their ultimate's, Realm Warp and Hero's Entrance, has the exact same problem. However, putting these 3 champions in the unlikely situation that they are all using Realm Warp together, a huge margin for error is created that won't exist on the opposing team due to camera functionality.

You could move your camera to start inputting commands act while the warp is taking place, but then your camera is hi-jacked back to the destination of Realm Warp, and you have to move the camera again, abut the duration of Rune Prison at rank 1 or 2. Evelynn or Galio being warped with Ryze by Realm Warp, scoping the map buffing commands while the thing is going on, then having to re-position the camera again after landing, only to have to re-position the camera again because Last Caress/Hero's Entrance hi-jacks your camera. That's a lot of Actions Per minute added on due to camera functions for such a simple play.)

Should the location of the player's camera be automatically relocated during a time when the player may possibly be attempting to input commands/pings at a given location? Or even just observe a location?

True, we should already be playing off the minimap, but still...
