Probably duos or other groups throwing off the system. Or just an increase in range to fix queue times. Either way its shitty for the higher rank players and the lower rank players.
Usually the only time I get more than 1 plat 5 player on each team is if their is duo or dynamic group in game. I am only gold 4 though. I have just started to look at everyone in my games as the same rank and try to play the best I can. If i get paired with a bunch of legit plat players and they mad about my performance, its not my fault since the system matched me with them. (granted this has not happened yet). Or if I am verse higher rank players I just have to play my best and try and not fall too far behind. In the end whether I am playing with higher rank or lower rank players my stats stay the same and have been winning more than losing. I think this season more than ever its probably important to not look at match making since it just going to tilt you before game even starts and just view everyone as same rank until you see something in game that confirms they lower rank or higher rank and adapt accordingly.
