My friend recommended that i go gunblade on the new evelynn, however almost no build i found uses it. Should I?

Nope, gunblade compliments sustained dmg, aka long trades something that evelynn wants to avoid since she is an assassin AND lacks the tools for an prolonged trade. The active is good but the stats are not worth since almost all of your dmg is multi target, and lifesteal attributes scale best with single target to get the full of it.

Not sure why you were downvoted. This is a fair point. Old Eve used it well because of her AD ratios and Q spam. New Eve would benefit from the gunblade active, but thats about it.

Apparently she's getting an AD ratio back though so it may be viable again.

Not without the attack speed steroid she is missing.

She does have impressive attack speed later over old Evelynn to make up for it though.

It still wont be worth the gold. Its only 1 ad ratio, when all the rest scale with ap.

No, go protobelt instead.

I lean towards this in the Lethality Meta.

The fk are you talk about. Its only 1 ad ratio. It still not enough to make up for the lack of ad ratios. All other gunblade user ( minus lb ) have hybrid scaling. She doesnt. Furthermore all of her dmg ( or rather almost ) is multi target, which means the sustain she will get by gunblade will be low as fk.

Yes, when ahead go Gunblade, when behind go Protobelt. Both accomplish the same goal(catching people) but don't do it the same way, gunblade does more damage, give you the nice heals but requires much more gold. So you go Protobelt if you can't afford to go Gunblade. In addition Protobelt should be taken if you need more Survivability(health) since it gives health instead of just Spellvamp.

Edit: Also gunblade gives more AP so if you can afford it, best to keep the snowball going. It's also suitable to go Lich Bane second instead of either Hextech item's.

To add onto this, Evelynn's changes on her pbe give her E a total AD scaling, meaning you also benefit from the AD from Gunblade. It'll be more or less core for AP Evelynn soon, especially in laning builds.

Ohh she's getting an AD ratio back??

I completely disagree with this. The Gunblade is inferior to Protobelt for 2 MAJOR reasons. The HP and the CDR. Evelynn needs as much CDR as she can to not only use Q more often, but to also combo a helluva lot more with her upcoming R changes (If it executes, 25% refund on the CD of R, and auto enter Demon Shade). That, and her base HP is hella bad, and there's not really much space in her kit to squeeze in CDR if you're trying to go health, considering that Liandry and Rylai don't have the stat on them. The 10% CDR alone from Lichbane doesn't cut it on Eve, so she needs the CDR from Protobelt a lot more than she needs the healing from Gunblade.

You build Gunblade on Evelynn and other AP champions for the burst active and slow, not for the sustain, and put scaling cdr into your runes if you're jungling, or Morello if you're mid for some reason. Protobelt is honestly only if you fall behind, and even then it feels terrible to use.

Xurreal1 votes

Protobelt is cost effective for a quick power spike and survivability.

You begin gaining your power spikes early for the purpose of delaying enemy spikes, in turn accelerating your power spike gains.

Excelsior.

1011001110001 votes

Yeah, it's cost effective for a quick power spike. If you're behind. If you're even or ahead, Gunblade (or even GLP-800) is a better damaging power spike that provides better offensive utility.

Gaining power spikes early won't matter if you weren't much of a threat to begin with and fell behind.

As far as Damage, yes. It is a very good tool for popping Hate Spike Marks on enemies and Whiplash recovers good spell vamp with it. And being that Demon Shade resets Whiplash's cooldown, it is great for clearing camps very quickly and saving you time from getting honey plants.

Over a fight, one might heal up enough spellvamp to equal a Kindle Gem.

It's only caveats are that it boosts nothing towards defense, cooldown, or mana, and deals resistible magic damage on cast, and is costing 3400. EDIT it is 121% gold efficient without the passive, but it's components are not as cost efficient.

But through skill, the item can be used to obtain the funds for something else quickly.

The runes become invalid in like 4 days. There's not a lot of access to CDR in the new runes, so you kind of need it more from items.

And there are 10% cdr runes in the new runes update anyway. I don't see why cdr in runes is suddenly an invalid option.

Also evelynn's getting AD scalings on her E soon. Gunblade gives AD and AP

TruelyTrueTrueth1 votes

is the ad ratio there yet? because i see when putting points into E it says "% base attack damage increase"

if it is already there then well THERES NOT MUCH OF A CHANGE

IFthat is the case then gunblade is not a good build on eve it is bad compared with proto

proto gives you a small gap closer something that evelynn really needs and it gives health and cdr something that evelynn also needs

gunblade just gives ad and healing that is barely noticeable when fighting plus her ad scalings are not even that good so please dont buy gunblade proto is the better option

gunblade active may be good but the stats and passive are not even close to what proto belt gives and proto belt active is also good for it is similar to gunblade except it does less damage and doesnt slow but instead gives a small dash (a small gap closer)

If your trying to win a match, you shouldn't be picking Evelynn.

ItsMaybelline1 votes

Lol, why? I do just fine on her. She's not that bad, especially with Teemo in the weekly lineup.

EPIKON1 votes

What she needs is both Q and E to have AD scaling back.

I won't ask her R to have AD scaling as it is OP as it is.

TruelyTrueTrueth1 votes

Q and E does not need ad scaling its good as is what needs a buff is her charm its useless in team fights

I was AD Evelynn main.

The way I liked to play her was split pushing assassin.

She either needs AD scaling or needs her Q fixed so she can at least wave clear better than Janna FFS.

It's stupid how her Q has 6 sec CD when it's used on a minion plus she lost her attack speed passive on her E -- she has none of that going for her ATM.

Her W works fine for me during teamfights.

You don't completely need to charm the target, slow is good enough to erase a squishy -- "it's good as is."

FFS, please don't say shit like oh her Q and E is fine when you've never played Evelynn prior to her reworked release.

Her kit right now is one dimensional and it's not healthy.

I also agree with this. It lacks any real clear in lane, especially with her old Q being able to clear it quickly. Which is exactly why I almost always buy protobelt. Her W really isn't even needed and felt forced and tacked on, shifting a lot of her power budget towards it, with a long ass cook time and an indication in where you are coming from.

TruelyTrueTrueth1 votes

ok i agree eve has trash wave clear but thats not what she was meant to do though i guess riot could put in a few changes to help with her wave clear but more importantly she is a jungler not a laner so the wave clear isn't that relevant

but her W DOES need a buff or atleast buff her in other areas to help with her W

and i have played a lot of evelynn before the rework i just stopped playing after a while becuase of how bad she was you would use to have to wait for mid or late game when you get at least 2-3 items before your able to fight effectively or you biuld ad on her because old eve ad was definitely better but that eve is gone now just like old galio, urgot, and warwick

Hey ItsMaybelline!

In my honest opinion, going Hextech Gunblade may be seen as a niche item. If you have tons of AP already, this item will help you stay at full power throughout your jungle clears, where normally you'd have to wait out for your passive to get into a Health range suitable for at least an engage.

It's real value is two-fold:

First: Obviously it's active can help you close distance or secure the kill. Being that the active scales with a percentage of your total AP, you gain a lot of power through basic usage of the item.

Second: It, as an item active, does not count as an ability damaging attack for the purposes of getting Evelynn's Charm detonated. This mean, the item does have a high value for Evelynn if she is in need of the extra help in closing the gap (and saving Smite for an objective).

Simply put, it is a matter of decision, a means to an end. You should decide for yourself if you feel that your opponents should require that much effort to gain control over (thinking of speedy champs like Yasuo, the active is not a projectile vs Windwall and helps you close distance and CC him).

The items you choose and how you use them is the expression of your skill. You use what you have to the best of your abilities.

What works best for you might not always work for others, so never let anyone tell you that an item is good or bad. Items are only useful for different things.

I have personally purchased item 2301 Eye of the Watchers on her for additional health, bonus movement speed on passive activation, and the additional vision that helps me Charm distant foes in their jungle. This is just one of my back-up styles with her, and it isn't my most effective, but when I see the need to put pressure on roaming champions, this is my most effective form of skill expression against mobility roamers.

I hope you see that you can really do anything you want to some means and have it totally be effective (within reason of course).

Don't limit yourself. You can't grow and expand your universe if you limit yourself.

The AD scaling buffs got reverted. They are only keeping stealth changes live. Protobelt is in many ways better than Gunblade, but Gunblade has it's niche. Lich Bane for your second item after smite is generally what you want first. Try to make cdr as fast as you can, because most of your damage is coming through the ultimate and the charm proc.

Also Evelynn is currently underwhelming right now, even when ahead. She lacks any real clear which is why protobelt helps solve that bit, even though it has a mini-ult cooldown itself. It also offers a gap closer, which Evelynn needs to help get closer for the W mark.

I've been using Empowered Whiplash to clear through casters and Hate Spike to clear through melee minions (suppressive fire)
