Noob LoL Questions.

I'm new to LoL and i'm curious about the state of this game. Being new i don't know who's OP, whose underpowered, etc etc. I'm not talking a little OP, i mean is there anyone who is indisputably too good right now. What types of teams are really common right now and is the meta set in stone? Does the insane amount of playable heroes in LoL mean that it'll never be the case that only a handful of champions will be viable? Also fuck Teemo. Answer away.

1: State of the game - It's not as good of a state as in the past. That being said, the meta is going to shake up drastically come pre-season (around patch 7.22 I believe). The state of the game after this will determine League's life time it has remaining.

2: OP Champions - This one depends on your definition of OP including which role (Top, jungle, mid, ADC,support) you want to know about. Because of some of the things coming this pre-season, I feel the current roster of OP is going to bring rise to new top champions.

3: Common Teams - This one isn't as difficult to answer. Top lane tends to be tanks (like Ornn), fighters (like Renekton), juggernauts (like Nasus), and combat mages (like Rumble). Jungle tends to be champions who can clear jungle camps fast while (usually) being able to gank a lane for early kills (like Elise, Lee Sin, Rammus, etc). Mid lane tends to be where casters (ad or ap) and assassins go, but you can find success with other champions if you're good enough. Bot lane is the most standard though with ADC (marksman) and support champions. While ADCs are the more standard champion roster of the game, support tends to be extremely flexible where the pool of supports varies based on player skill and preference more than meta.

4: Champion Count - There are a lot of champions, but yes there are a handful that sit at the top. That being said, even those who are not at the top can still easily find success in the correct hands.

Also fuck Teemo

Seems like you already got the basics down To advance, fuck Gnar(teemo 2.0) aswell.

To the more serious things:

i mean is there anyone who is indisputably too good right now.

Depends alot on what level of play you are looking at and how experienced the player is with said champs. For low skill levels(asumeing this affects you the most as you're still new to the game), champs like Akali, Darius and Yi usually are rather dominant, they are rather easy to use and punish mistakes really hard, but at higher levels, coordinated teams can abuse their weaknesses.

What types of teams are really common right now and is the meta set in stone?

There is not really a specific type of team that is really common for lower levels of play, but the rough meta is set in stone: You got a sololaner top(usually bruiser or tank), A jungler(usually tank, bruiser or assasin), A sololane mid(usually mage, adc or assasin) and a duolane bot with support or tank + ADC.

Does the insane amount of playable heroes in LoL mean that it'll never be the case that only a handful of champions will be viable?

Sadly not, atleast for high level play you usually have a few heroes per role that are toptier and some that get used by their diehard mains, while the majority hardly gets used. However, in lower skill levels you can usually be succesfull with about any hero if you put in some effort to master him.
