The Future of Xayah

Dear Riot,

I just have something short to say about Xayah. While I have a positive opinion on the champion, I feel like you guys are repeating the mistakes of Kalista, mainly support reliance and learning curve/skillcap. I forsee both Xayah and Rakan being absolutely unplayable without each other and ridiculously overpowered when together, and both being nerfed into the ground soon after making them bad either way. What will you do to ensure this doesn't happen?

Sincerely, Someone who probably has no idea what they're talking about since they have only been playing since Preseason 6 and ended hardstuck gold

To be frank, that isn't an issue with Xayah but an issue with the role of ADC in the first place. If you don't have a good front line period? You aren't going to win. Tanks and assassins rule the meta, and champs like Xayah will get punished for someone else not being able to play their role correctly when it comes to peeling/ccing priority targets so you can burst them down.

The support reliance and high skillcap are where you're worried, huh? Well, worry no longer, because let's look at that.

First off, support reliance. Xayah doesn't need Rakan. He gives her a bit of extra damage, but that's really it. He's not even the best support for Xayah, even with their interactions, so I can't see what you're worried about here. Unlike Kalista, Xayah doesn't need her support any more than any other ADC does.

Second of all, high skillcap. I won't argue that Xayah isn't difficult, you need to know how to position yourself at all times to prepare for as many situations as possible, but that's true of almost every ADC in the game, it's just slightly moreso for Xayah. I can't see her being considered more difficult than Draven. Kalista is high skillcap for entirely different reasons, like her ult, her dashes, her E and its resets, and knowing how to use your W. She's far further from a typical ADC than Xayah, and much higher skillcap because of it. Xayah won't need to be balanced around her skillcap.

Sincerely, someone else who probably has no idea what they're talking about since they started playing in Preseason 7, but played Xayah and Rakan quite a bit on the PBE

The mistake with Kalista was giving her such insane sustained mobility while also giving her incredible burst potential if the fight drags on along with sustained damage (which her mobility allows her to do). The problem with Kalista is her passive. However, her identity right now is also her passive hops, so they had to nerf everything else about her, including a really awful .9 to 1 AD ratio on her autos which is just...weird.
